ACA and supplemental cancer insurance

I go in tomorrow to sign up for benefits through my work. I currently have a supplemental policy for cancer. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in December, went through 12 rounds of chemo over 24 weeks, and was declared cancer-free at my last oncologist visit 2-3 weeks ago. I’ll still have to go in for scans every six months for a while.

My question is, can the insurance company say I’m not eligible for the supplemental coverage for the upcoming year, or are they required to let me continue with it?

The ACA should have nothing to do with it. Your supplemental cancer policy language and your state’s insurance laws will determine what controls renewability.

Well, whether they CAN drop me or not, I’m glad to say they didn’t.
