Academic job search Q--updated cv

OK, here’s what is probably an easy question for those of you who’ve been on search committees. I’ve sent out several job app packets in recent months/weeks, and I’ve just had a significant development (an article (I have very few) was just accepted at a journal). Is there a protocol, as such, for sending out an updated version? Can I just e-mail the doc to the search chair or departmental admin who received the initial application? “Please replace the old dingy copy in my file with this shiny new one, ooh, look at line 38”? Do I need to mail out hard copies? Seems unexpeditious for positions with deadlines passed.
Thanks

I have served on search committees and I’d say email the new versions. Or a smiple email saying you know my working paper “An exploratory examination of the causal effects of sleep deprivation on first job success”? Well it’s just been accepted to the Journal of Time Wasting. For one thing it indicates you’re still interested in the job. This is probably more important than the actual information.

Great-- thanks for the suggestion.
