I could have sworn it was only about two years ago! IIRC, since Emma Stone would already have received her Oscar and the card and envelope that goes with it, I believe what was mistakenly given to the presenter was a duplicate of Stone’s card from the set of duplicates they have on hand, which one would think would have been kept distinctly separate from the others. Truly a monumental screw-up.
It was a duplicate card. As I remember, there were two sets of cards, depending on whether the presenter met the accountant at stage left or stage right.
