Official 83rd Academy Awards thread

Red carpet stuff now. Ryan Seacrest is a dumbass. Ceremony starts in 2 hours.

He asks the worst questions, and then interrupts the stars when they’re struggling for an answer!

Funny Ryan Seacreast moments so far:

“I can see myself in that dress!”

Smooch on the cheek from Russel Brand with a “you’re so handsome!”.

Man, I respect the hell out of Hailee Steinfeld. How well-spoken. How gracious. A real charmer.

And she’s only 14! And her dress was perfect, and age-appropriate.

I haven’t seen any knockout fashion yet.

My wife says Melissa Leo’s dress is channeling Elvis. I think Cate Blanchett looks like Disney’s magic mirror come to life.

I thought Cate Blanchett looked ready to hop on a float in the Easter Parade.

I don’t have a TV in my bedroom. Is there a reliable stream anyone would recommend, so that I can follow along on here?

I can’t stand that red carpet stuff. What time does the actual ceremony start?

I only watch these in years when I’ve actually seen the majority of the films. I haven’t had the chance to see True Grit or The Fighter yet (or just about everything in the best supporting actress category), but otherwise I’m good.

I’ll be happy as long as The Wolfman wins something :stuck_out_tongue:

Jennifer Lawrence sure cleans up nice.

I’m streaming with the official live-cast right now: oscar.go.com the award show link should be live soon.

And how!

I’m rather liking the coverage on ABC better than E’s coverage.

Sandra Bullock looks a hundred and ten.

Nice dress, though.

I don’t see a thread for predictions, so I’ll post mine here. Let’s see how many I get right!

(other than the three short film categories, I’ve actually seen all of those nominees.)

I’m here, I’m watching on my new laptop in Chicago via a Sling Player located in Kansas City, chatting with lissener in a text window, and reading tweets on my Touch. God I love technology!

Thanks, Elysium! By weird coincidence, I made Kraft Homestyle Mac & Cheese for dinner an hour ago. I’ve already seen that commercial twice.

The site says it started at 8, but I don’t see anything yet…

I’m rooting for Social Network and Inception tonight, but King’s Speech is the deliberate Oscar Bait film which will get more than its fair share, I predict. (Colin Firth can have his Oscar, but otherwise that movie was inferior to everything else it’s up against).

Yeah I’m in the same boat, they claim to be airing it there.

Okay, the live footage just kicked in. This footage is way better than what ABC usually has.

Agreed! Is the actual awards show not yet started? I’ve got the hosts chatting.

Ok. Highlight for me so far was James Franco in the leotard. Yowza!

OK, the opening bit was fairly clever.

First award, Art Direction: Alice In Wonderland
