I’ve been hearing about how fabulous the Acai berry is for, well, just about everything and I’d like to know the truth about all the benefits, how much you would need to take to achieve Acai berry nirvana, and where would one find it to purchase. Thanks!
There’s no doubt that it’s good stuff, very nutritious and chock full of beneficial things. However, that being said, I have been into herbs for 35 yrs. and have found many that have good benefits. But the thing is that the supplemental biz is booming and every year or so they come out with what I call "The herb of the year goes to… The benefits that they do have are blown out of proportion and the benefits are exaggerated.
There’s lots of good stuff out there, just don’t get caught up in the latest fad, buy a bunch and stop taking it 30 -60 days later, it’s just a waste of money.
Also, don’t be expecting a buzz or the energy of a speeding locomotive. If you want to get good and fucked up high, get kava kava root and biol it for ten minutes or so and then drink…definite downer, relaxing high. It tastes like shit and makes your lips and tounge numb.
If I could be permitted a slight hijack. What would be a good resource in terms of incorporating more herbal supplements into my life? With children who come in contact with every virus known to man, I definitely need to boost my immune system. Plus I suffer a lot of back pain and just feel the need to improve my overall health. There are three herbal type stores on my local high street but I am highly paranoid about being sold a lot of potions that do nothing.
It is so difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff. Do you have any recommended reading?
Pretty much, you can get everything acai promises with blueberries. You’d have to eat a few more, but they are much cheaper and easier to procure. Or, if you like Pomegranite.
The easiest way to get pure Acai is to buy the frozen mash. I found some at Whole Foods in the freezer section, and it’s cheaper than the juice mixes that aren’t pure Acai. You can mix it into a smoothie. I bought it as a novelty, and haven’t really used it much.
