Accident investigation procedure question.

A motorcyclist crashed on my street last night, necesitating a lifeflight. The street was blocked for several hours while the invesigation was going on. This morning, on my way to work, I observed the markings where the man had fetched-up, and where his ride had landed.

Here’s the question: Is it common practice to clean-up the blood after a messy accident? This morning I observed a large (~3’x4’) patch of dried blood (and, yes, I know what dried blood looks like) where the man had been laying last night.

(BTW: He’s still alive, if critical, this morning)

In my part of the world, a serious MVA scene involving death or life-threatening injury is treated like a crime scene. the road is completely blocked and protected until all the evidence is gathered by the investigators. Usually once they have finished, the attending fire service are charged with any cleanup tasks, which may include hosing down a road if required.

OK, that’s one from the antipodes. How about someone closer to home…? (BTW, the blood’s still there this AM)
