Like Experts Exchange, there are probably a lot that follow the pattern (blank)sexchange, e.g. kidsexchange.net.
You realize that wwww.bigbustours.com and wwww.bigbustours.org will be occupied by a porn site in a day.
They should have just picked a better URL like wwww.big_bus_tours.co.uk and avoided the problem.
I found the converse of this:
Oddly enough, www.exoticmeats.com is perfectly worksafe.
My Gov Docs professor went to the wrong one on a distance ed class being remotely viewed by oodles and oodles of people, across state lines. ![]()
If you put in the name of my college and finish with .com, not .edu, you get porn. Professors have made this mistake in class.
I was looking for roller skates on line and decided to check out Dicks Sporting Good. **www. dicks. com **won’t get you rollerskates.
Used to be, though I’m not sure if this is still the case, that when certain ISP’s would have a domain go dormant, they’d forward that to one of the porn sites that they served, as that would drive some revenue somehow. I wonder if this might be what happened in this case…
Ah, but that’s nothing to do with the name of your college, is it? I’m trying to think of a college which might potentially turn into a dirty word with a -com suffix and failing.
I wonder how often computer programmers looking for information about the Symbian Operating System get mixed up and type in http:/ /www.sybian.com .
well considering how SCA Tissue makes toilet paper I always thought it was funny that their website could be seen as a “scat issue”.
only marginally related, but I always found domain name sitters to be a leading cause of accidental porn viewage. first of course by sitting on domains that are mispellings of more popular wesbites, but also by stealing up expired domains. I had let my own website domain name expire accidently and was treated to a frantic call from my mother asking why I was putting hardcore porn on my website. I checked and realized that someone had taken my domain after it expired and I had forgotten to renew it right away. Why they thought my website was getting enough hits to make it worth the money to steal my non existent audience is beyond me.
www.wildmeat.co.uk is another safe one, even though the .com version certainly isn’t.
I believe the Horniman Museum has had quite a bit of troubole with blocked emails and the like.
Giant Black Cock College is a proud educational institution, I’ll have you know. It’s named for the favorite rooster of Methodist Jason Lee, a man whose funding started several schools in Oregon in the 1800’s.
