Man, I’ve been reading a lot of threads lately, and there are some fucking bizarre acronyms out there and it’s really a pain in the ass to read through. Some of them I know and some I can figure out, but what the fuck is IANAC? The first thing that came to mind was Nixon’s “I Am Not A Crook”, but it didn’t make sense in the context. Then there’s a billion others out there equally as perplexing… Through divine inspiration I prophecy that the SDMB (holy shit now I"m doing it!#!) posts in 5 years willl look something like:
IANAC is usually “I am not a Christian”. It all depends on context, of course. If you’re reading a thread about legal matters, you’ll see comments prefaced with “IANAL”. Basically just a disclaimer letting the readers know that the following comments are not coming from an expert.
Too many acronyms can be irritating, but I find a few to be rather handy. YMMV.
I am Nick Nolte, doofus. - Night & day. Never ever ask. Not even Nick Carter is intimate, really. Cool. Just for knowing about I, many Hollywood others brood. Your song does not bait. Why are you so interesting, Tom Arnold? Be always close, Elizabeth.
I am no newbie dummy! Newbie dummies never enjoy acronyms. Not even normal conventions! If I recall correctly, John Fitzgerald Kennedy’s acronym, in my humble opinion, began yonder scenario. Do not begrudge wonderful acronyms you see in this answer. Because acronyms constitute excellence!
For intelligently recognizing excellence, until no dissenting essayist regards placing acronyms neatly throughout sentences banal or obnoxious, be secure!
