Hey there folks, I’ve been reading this board for a while now and finally have a reason to post. I was wondering if the collective knowledge of the Dope could help me out with a bathroom-home repair issue that I have.
I have a sixty year old house that has an acrylic bathtub liner over an old cast iron tub in my full bath. Unfortunately I seem to have an issue with some water building up between the two, mainly due to me being lax on maintaining the caulking between the liner and the wall inside the tub. Before I redo the caulking, I was looking for ideas to get the water out of there short of pulling the liner out completely (IIRC the installer glued it down pretty well when it was first put in). My initial thought was to possibly dump something else between the two that would speed up the evaporation process, but I’m not sure how feasible that would be or what I would use. I do know that rubbing alcohol and acrylic plastic don’t mix.
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated, even if it’s just a nudge in the right direction for a decent DIY board.
