Active Release Techniques

Does active release (ART) work? All I have heard is good things about this from 45 minutes of research on the net. But I haven’t found any studies and I don’t know what to think about all the stories of Canadian skiiers and Olympian Weightlifters, Charles Poliquin, ect. (I guess it worked for these guys, but what about all the peopel it didn’t work on, or that it injured…)

I called the Colorado home office and they gave me an 888 number that directed me to a local provider. So, I have an appt. for the 2nd down in S. Florida and I want to know if I should be nervous about him squeezing the heck out of me and injuring me.

*Aside: Most people said it hurts badly, but then they say they felt perfect seconds after and are healed from then on. If something hurts like that, isn’t there usually swelling and at least some healing time? I do 100’s of push-ups a week in school and I can’t afford to be out of commission for more than two or three days.

Btw, I have healed tendonitis (and lots of scar tissue) in my pec-shoulder tendon and in my ring finger tendon and this seems to be my only option, considering my personal situation.

Any info will help, thanks.
