Focus on the fact that this is likely one of those bullied, 4chan sociopathic dorks using a political faction as venue to attempt to justify his actions. I don’t see the relevance of whether it is a White Male or not, despite the fact a lot of mass shooters are White Men. If these sex based and race based comments were pointed at a different group based on the same stereotyping premise, they wouldn’t be allowed or they would shunned and critiqued. Please don’t be hypocritical, at least attempt to not be. We all are to some degree, but it is not a good look.

News reports are so conflicted and confusing. NBC says 19 dead 40 injured.
CNN reporting is more restrained with 23 injured and several dead. People are donating blood for the injured.

One of the problems of being a “good guy with a gun trying to stop the bad guys” is that you have to take down the bad guy really, really quickly. You have to drop the bad guy right away. You can’t get into a protracted gun battle with him whereby the two of you are hiding behind store shelves, taking potshots at each other, etc. Otherwise the cops show up and you’re just as likely to be gunned down by the police as the bad guy.

You have to also make sure you have the right person(s). At the Tucson shooting, a man with a legal concealed weapon almost shot the wrong person; it turned out not to be the shooter, but ANOTHER “good guy” (a hero in every sense of the word) who wrestled the shooter to the ground and took his gun.

When our president has begun proposing that white peoples’ rights be legally curtailed because of crimes by said dorks, I will concede that the situations are equivalent.
That said, I don’t want any peoples’ rights to be based on race, religion, ethnicity, etc. I’d just be happy if the administration acknowledged what the FBI concluded (that right-wing terrorism is a threat) as noted in the article linked in post #47 of this thread).
This makes no sense. That is what you should be focused on. I’m illustrating that many have a cavalier attitude when saying things about White Males, and have no reservations but willfully critique in many instances if it’s another race or gender. If you (general you) what to have an attitude of “go figure, white male” then you have to apply it to others equally or it makes you a hypocrite. That’s all.

I agree with this absolutely. I would be happy with that acknowledgement too. I agree they are more dangerous. I said this in so many words elsewhere. I am not one to absolutely defend absolutely everything about this current administration though I did vote for it. Things could be better. My post above wasn’t directly about this administration although I can see how it would be viewed as interrelated.

The real problem is that every person thinks HE’S the “good guy,” so all the other postulations are pointless. I’m sure this guy in El Paso is convinced that he’s the good guy.
Because white supremacist terrorism is the main source of terrorism in this country. It isn’t hypocrisy to point out reality. The “lone crazy” excuse only works the first hundred times.
