Governor says 20 are dead
I found the KTSM live stream on YouTube.
20 dead, 26 injured.
Now apply that same train of stereotyping thought to city gangs. I somehow doubt you will be as willful to point on gender and race in such a casual “go figure” vein of attitude or you will point the finger back.
In the context of stopping an active shooter, he obviously isn’t. I’m referring only to that.
It’s a shit show either way. Either it will be the wild west, or the bad guys will still get the guns. There seemingly and sadly is not a solution no matter how much we postulate our positions or speculate.
Why are you making this about city gangs now? “But, but, but…black people!”
This is a white man who shot up a Wal-Mart. Quite hijacking this thread with your butthurt race shit.
I’m sure someone less lazy than me will produce cites and stats to show that he wasn’t stereotyping.
Men with guns.
I haven’t seen any mention of security officers at Walmart?
Around here they are all over the place patrolling the parking lot and inside the store.
Moderator Note
This is a breaking news thread, not a gun control thread in Great Debates. Feel free to start a new thread in GD about this particular incident, but keep the gun debate stuff out of this thread.
I get that. I was referring to the discourse itself of “good guys” and “bad guys.” It’s the narrative fantasy of movies and TV shows. In the fantasy, everyone knows that he’s the the good guy, and everyone in the way is a bad guy. That’s the way in which the viewer is positioned by movies, TV shows, and games. When we step into the real world, we tend to carry this narrative along, regardless of what we’re actually doing, regardless of our actual motives.
In the minds of these shooters, they’re absolutely certain that they are the “good guy with a gun” stopping the “bad guys” with guns (police, or whomever).
Sociopathic dorks “using a political faction as venue” to attempt to justify their unprovoked violence against random innocents is called ideological terrorism. If the ideology such a sociopathic dork is promoting is white supremacism, then he’s a white supremacist terrorist.
Message to all Americans: Stop fucking shooting! Now!
Message to rest of planet: See above!
I’m actually getting scared. Is it okay to go to the local Target? Rite-Aid? Fuck all this. People at our company are asking me if it’s safe to not have a firearm when visiting CA. With good reason, apparently. But due to three shootings IN A WEEK, AGAIN, whatever the shooter’s problem is, why the fuck are you shooting a firearm at people whom you do not know?
Sorry I’m ranting. It just seems so “oh another shooting blah blah blah” news headline isn’t making any kind of impact.
My apologies, got carried away.
This a breaking news thread about yet another of the now 200th plus mass shootings in this country this year alone.
But let’s not talk about guns, mmm k?
Good ol’ Yahoo had a Wal-Mart sponsored sale ad right next to its story about this shooting. Unconfirmed the sales tagline was “Prices to die for”.
Fox News anchors say that now isn’t the time to talk about gun legislation… also that there might be an ISIS connection due the proximity to the porous border.
I think the onion is kind of redundant now a days.
And they are now blaming fortnite. Jesus on a fucking cracker. White fragility is a hell of a drug.
Breaking news threads are to discuss breaking news, not to debate underlying issues that have been ongoing for quite some time. This is particularly true of shootings, since the gun control issue is very hotly debated. We don’t want to completely swamp the breaking news discussion just to have yet another thread about gun control.
You’re not being silenced. If you’d like to discuss gun control as it relates to this incident, you are certainly free to do so, just not in this thread. Feel free to start a new thread in Great Debates if you’d like (there may even be one there already, I haven’t checked).
Please take any further questions to ATMB.
I thought the current fad was to not publicize anything about these shooters so as not to glamourize them. Tough luck if you want to understand these things.
