Fox News anchors say that now isn’t the time to talk about gun legislation… also that there might be an ISIS connection due the proximity to the porous border.

I think the onion is kind of redundant now a days.

And they are now blaming fortnite. Jesus on a fucking cracker. White fragility is a hell of a drug.

They had a guy on talking about how these type of shooters just want attention. They may claim to have some ideology but really, they just want attention. Fox is getting a little desperate to point fingers any where but racist white male.

Mexico President Andrés Manuel López Obrador says three Mexicans have been killed in the shooting in the border city of El Paso, Texas.

Mexican Foreign Relations Secretary Marcelo Ebrard says six Mexicans were wounded in the shooting. He identified three as 45-year-old Mario de Alba Montes, 44-year-old Olivia Mariscal Rodríguez and 10-year-old Erika de Alba Mariscal. Ebrard says the man and woman are from Chihuahua and all three are being treated at an El Paso hospital.

He says the other three wounded Mexicans were two men and a woman from Torreón, in Coahuila state, and Ciudad Juarez. Their names weren’t given.

We are all so very fortunate that by and large terrorists are not very good at what they do; so many of these incidents could have been so much worse. There were thousands of people at and around this Walmart today.

After the New Zealand shooting I wondered how long it would take to have a similar copycat type killing, I guess now we know, and now I wonder if there will be more. Also makes me wonder if there will eventually be a reverse of the situation with a minority killer attacking the majority, a whole sort of “eye for an eye, makes the whole world blind” type situation, there is a growing mass of disaffected, angry young men out there, socially isolated who blame others for their woes.

New York, NY, January 23, 2019 … Right-wing extremists were linked to at least 50 extremist-related murders in the United States in 2018, making them responsible for more deaths than in any year since 1995, according to new data from the ADL.

In its annual report on extremist-related killings in the U.S., the ADL’s Center on Extremism reported that at least 50 people were killed by extremists in 2018, including the 11 individuals killed in the fatal anti-Semitic attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. The tally represents a 35 percent increase from the 37 extremist-related murders in 2017, making 2018 the fourth-deadliest year on record for domestic extremist-related killings since 1970.

Last year saw the highest percentage of right-wing extremist-related killings since 2012, the last year when all documented killings were by right-wing extremists.

ADL’s Center on Extremism, which has aggregated data going back to 1970, shows that over the last decade, a total of 73.3 percent of all extremist-related fatalities can be linked to domestic right-wing extremists, while 23.4 percent can be attributed to Islamic extremists. The remaining 3.2 percent were carried out by extremists who did not fall into either category.

It’s never going to stop. I feel like the news is on a continuous loop. For the next few weeks, everyone will be arguing about how to fix this mess we’re in. Then other news will dominate the headlines, for a while, then it will happen all over again. If gun laws didn’t change after a bunch of 1st graders were mowed down, they never will.

Re: Mexicans, it at least used to be you could take a bus from one of the bridges to that mall. My understanding is the shopping experience in Cd. Juárez was sub-par, so that was a popular option.

Individual stories are now beginning to be told:

A 25-year-old woman who was shot while apparently shielding her 2-month-old son was among the 20 people killed when a gunman opened fire in a crowded El Paso shopping area, her sister said.

Leta Jamrowski, 19, of El Paso, learned Saturday afternoon that her sister Jordan Anchondo had been shot to death at Walmart while shopping for back-to-school supplies earlier in the day. Jamrowski spoke to The Associated Press as she paced a waiting room at the University Medical Center of El Paso, where her 2-month-old nephew was being treated for broken bones — the result of his mother’s fall.

“From the baby’s injuries, they said that more than likely my sister was trying to shield him,” she said. “So when she got shot she was holding him and she fell on him, so that’s why he broke some of his bones. So he pretty much lived because she gave her life.”

Anchondo was the mother of three children.

As if a 2 month old with multiple broken bones and a dead mother isn’t bad enough:

Jamrowski spent the night desperately awaiting word of whether her brother-in-law, Andre Anchondo, had survived the attack that also wounded more than two dozen.

“They said that if he were alive, more than likely he would have gotten in contact by now,” Jamrowski said.

I am not a death penalty proponent so the only reason to be glad he’s alive can I see is that after he’s found guilty, before sending to prison for life the judge can order he be chained to a docket while every single person who was in that mall steps up to him and says to his face exactly what they think of him and his manifesto, whatever it is.

I have been in that Walmart several times with my wife.
All murders are equally heinous and all deaths tragic, but there is something very eerie about seeing an imbecile with a rifle, ready to shoot innocent people, walk through the doors of a place you have been to.

I am not a death penalty proponent so the only reason to be glad he’s alive can I see is that after he’s found guilty, before sending to prison for life the judge can order he be chained to a docket while every single person who was in that mall steps up to him and says to his face exactly what they think of him and his manifesto, whatever it is.

I agree. I don’t give a fuck why he did it and I don’t approve of links to and quotes from his so-called “manifesto.” In these cases, the shooter’s name should not even be released. He should be afforded no recognition whatsoever.
