i would have to agree with all posts thus far and also throw a couple more into the ring:

jason lee - best supporting actor for almost famous. great, funny actor, but nowadays seems to be picking every bad role that comes his way…

bill murray - this is a crime that he didn’t win best supporting actor for rushmore

steve martin - another funny guy who should’ve won, but i guess we’ll have to content ourselves with him being one of the best hosts in years… maybe he’ll win for shopgirl. lord knows if the movie is half as good as the book, he’s got a shot for actor and maybe screenplay

cate blanchett - gorgeous and talented. i don’t care how much i liked ‘shakespeare in love,’ gwenyth paltrow did not deserve to win that oscar over cate. hopefully another role like that will come along and she’ll get another chance…

Peter O’Toole, for acting not the honorary one he’ll be getting this year.

He deserved to win for The Stunt Man or My Favorite Year. Two great, and funny, performances - too bad the Academy has a bias against comedic roles.
