John Forsythe also Bachelor Father
Audrey Hepburn is probably equally associated with Eliza Doolittle and Holly Golightly.
Is Errol Flynn equal parts Robin Hood and Captain Blood, or only to me? I suppose Robin Hood outweighs Blood for most people.
Christopher Lee’s Saruman may be giving Christopher Lee’s Dracula a serious run for the money (although Christopher Lee’s Christopher Lee is pretty damned iconic all on it’s own.)
How can you leave out her performance as “Frog” in Smokey and the Bandit?
Well, Superhal, if you want a 00’s film actor, what about Simon Pegg? I have a top three for him, Shaun, Nicholas Angel, and Scotty. (That’s Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and the new Star Trek.) I’m guessing most people who know who he is but aren’t huge fans would associate him most with Shaun and Scotty.
Michael C. Hall: Dexter Morgan and David Fisher.
Damn, that’s embarassing.
Yes, amend my post to what you said. I don’t think I ever saw Banacek
Fairly recent one
Johnny Galecki - David (formerly Kevin) Healy (Roseanne) and Leonard (Big Bang Theory)
Susan Dey - Laurie Partridge and Grace Van Owen
Patrick Duffy - Bobby Ewing and the Man from Atlantis

Robert Preston: Harold Hill (Music Man) and Toddy (Victor/Victoria).
I agree with Harold Hill, but as much as I love Victor/Victoria everyone else I know immediately thinks Centauri from The Last Starfighter
Edit: Well that’ll teach me to not read closely enough. See it’s been mentioned. Sorry people.
The title made me think of Dennis Franz- Norman Buntz and Andy Sipowicz.

Christopher Lee’s Saruman may be giving Christopher Lee’s Dracula a serious run for the money (although Christopher Lee’s Christopher Lee is pretty damned iconic all on it’s own.)
And Peter Cushing as Dr. Van Helsing and Baron Frankenstein… tho alas, young’uns MAY recall him as Governor Tarkin.
According to SNL, Ron Howard is “Opie Cunningham”.
Did I miss it earlier?:smack:
How did we get to page 3, and not have mentioned Andy Griffith?
Sheriff Taylor of Mayberry<-------------------->Matlock, well, of Matlock
Mary Tyler Moore as Laura Petrie and Mary Richards. (ETA oops, already mentioned)
Arnold Schwarzenegger is The Terminator and the Governor of California.
Actually, I think he’s pretty much The Terminator, and Arnold Schwarzenegger poking fun at Arnold Schwarzenegger (which would be most of his movies from the late 80’s onwards, and damn if he isn’t better at it than anybody else).
Gary Oldman as… well, any two roles of his you might think of. I think he’s almost known more for eliciting a “Holyshit, that’s Gary Oldman!” realization from people because his roles tend to be so different from each other (I mean, he’s Commissioner Gordon, Sirius Black, Zorg, the guy who got off the President’s plane in Air Force One, the bad guy in Leon, and many many others.) Maybe that doesn’t count in regards to what the OP asked for.
Christian Bale will always be the crazy rich guy, and Patrick Bateman (and the singing Newsie, but I’m one of that movie’s three fans).
Zach Quinto nowadays is known for being Sylar and Spock.
Majel Barret is Nurse Chapel, and every computer Starfleet ever used.
Too many of these are of people actually well-known for many roles. I’ve been trying to keep it to those known mainly (or exclusively) for only two roles
Bob Keeshan – Clarabelle the Clown (on Howdy Doody) and Captain Kangaroo
Duncan “Dean” Parkin – Colonel Glenn Manning in War of the Colossal Beast and Bruce Barton in The Cyclops. His entire Acting career was playing bald, one-eyed giants in Bert I. Gordon movies Duncan 'Dean' Parkin - IMDb
Fred Thompson real Watergate lawyer, tv lawyer, tv CIA director and other roles, real U.S. senator
Fred Grandy as Gopher, real U. S. Representative
Gavin MacLeod as Murray Slaughter, Captain Merrill Stubing
David Boreanaz, Angel and Seeley Booth.
Richard Hatch as a twofer (“same” show, different characters): Apollo and Tom Zarek
… and the name goes for a third with the self-titled “UFNG”
Bruce Weitz: Belker and Anthony Zacchara (“General Hosptial”).

Two is a much bigger number then I remember it being.
Heh, isn’t it just? And ‘always associated with’ has become ‘was in.’
Scott Bakula: the leads in Quantum Leap and Enterprise. He’s been in other things (notably Chuck) but I think he’ll always be associated with those roles.
David Boreanaz: Angel and the bloke from Bones.
Gina Bellman: Sophie from Leverage and Jane from Coupling.(Though I’m not sure if she counts as famous enough, those are two stand-out roles).
Nathan Fillion is known for Mal from Firefly and Castle from Castle far more than for any of his other roles.
