What are some interesting instances of actors following each other between works?
One interesting one I just stumbled upon is that Scoot McNairy and Kerry Bishe (rawr!) play a married couple both in Argo and Halt and Catch Fire.

It was common in the 30s and 40s for actors to be cast together as romantic partners: Fred and Ginger, Nelson Eddy and Jeanette Macdonald, Bogart and Bacall, Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn (three films, but great ones), John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara, Dick Powell and Ruby Keeler, William Powell and Myrna Loy (14 films together, including the Thin Man series).
Adam Sandler’s pack of friends should count. Chris Rock, David Spade, Kevin James and so forth.
All that and you didn’t mention Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy?

Gah. Of course.
Certain directors had “stock companies” of actors they cast in their films again and again. John Ford had about 40, so they often appeared together. They included John Wayne, Victor McLaglen, Ward Bond and others
Preston Sturges had William Demerest, Eddie Bracken, Jimmy Conlin, Chester Conklin, and quite a few others.
And, of course, there was the Rat Pack: Sinatra, Martin, Davis, Peter Lawford, Joey Bishop, etc.
I don’t know if still happens know, but I always found it interesting when I’d read some little bio or watch a documentary and hear something like “Bette Davis was on loan from MGM”.
Woody Allen has had evolving casts of regulars. At one time, that included Tony Roberts and Diane Keaton. Later, it included Mia Farrow, Diane Wiest and Julie Kavner.
Martin Scorsese used to use Robert DeNiro, Harvey Keitel and Joe Pesci a lot.
One noteworthy coincidence is Carrie-Ann Moss and Joe Pantoliano appearing together in three unrelated movies in a eighteen month period: The Matrix, Memento, and New Blood.
Clint Eastwood, Mel Brooks, and Chris Guest all have actors they prefer to work with.
For some reason, Robert Shaw, Nigel Davenport, and some other actors in the 1966 film adaptation of Robert Bolt’s play as Man for All Seasons showed up in the 1969 film adaptation of Peter Schaffer’s play The Royal Hunt of the Sun
A lot of the Russian actors in “Moscow On The Hudson” also appeared in “2010”. Or would it be the other way around? I don’t remember which was first. I understand it wasn’t so much as solidarity/friendship as much as there were only so many Russian actors in LA at the time they were casting those films.
Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise
Phillip Seymour Hoffman and John C. Reilly
Orson Welles and Joseph Cotten
Seems to me John Wayne worked a lot with Maureen O’Hara, Ward Bond and Walter Brennan, but I could be misremembering.
John Cassavetes used his friends Peter Falk and Ben Gazzara in several of the movies he directed, as well as his wife Gena Rowlands. The Coen brothers too have a stock company of favorite actors.
John Wayne, Ward Bond, Harry Carey, Jr, Victor McLaglen, and others appeared in several movies together. John Ford had a stable of character actors he liked to use.
I’ve spotted three actors from The Wire in The Walking Dead. Two other actors from The Wire starred in Treme.
In an overlap, one of the actors from Wire and Treme (Clarke Peters) also worked with Khandi Alexander (Treme) previously in The Corner.
This is really random, but yesterday I was watching a 1989 episode of Murder, She Wrote featuring Lane Smith (the D.A. in My Cousin Vinny) and Mason Adams, who would later appear together in Son-In-Law (1993).
Peter Billingsley, Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau are all long time friends and work often together. Billingsley and Favreau are often behind the camera.

Yes they do- John Goodman and John Turturro are the most prominent of these.
Turturro is ALSO part of two other stables! He’s one of Spike Lee’s regulars (along with Michael Badalucco) and one of Adam Sandler’s!
David Mamet also uses many of the same group as actors in his plays and movies. They include former wife Lindsey Crouse, current wife Rebecca Pidgeon, William H. Macy, Joe Mantegna and Ricky Jay.
Scatman Crothers has appeared in four movies with Jack Nicholson: ***The King of Marvin ***Gardens, The Fortune, ***The Shining ***and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
