Adam and Jamie or Build Team?

Grant & Tori are in their forties?!?!

BTW - I like 'em all, so I voted “no preference”

Another vote for “I miss Scotte”, as well

That may have been the first intern, Christine. As I recall, she had a heated super-Jawbreaker candy explode in her face, which will probably cause just about anyone to shed a few tears.

There was another intern, Jess, used in some slightly later episodes, but I don’t recall her shedding any tears.

I voted Adam and Jamie, I think they play off each other better than the build team and have far more interesting and likeable personalities. While I genuinely find their banter entertaining I find the build team’s forced and annoying. I also think they tend to get the better myths. Last night’s episode is a perfect example, Adam got wrapped in over a hundred pounds of bubble wrap and dropped 15 feet, while the build team just built another rocket powered contraption that had entirely predictable results. Most of the time I only find one of the episodes myths interesting, and nine times out of ten it’s the one with Adam and Jamie.

According to her she wasn’t crying because it hurt. She was crying because, well, it was just so emotional!

BT for me too.

I don’t think Jamie is gruff exactly - compare him to the meathead dad on American Chopper - but he is like a high school science teacher too clueless to ever try joking around. He’s a drip.

It depends on the myths they are testing. For a while, the build team was getting the better stories; recently, Adam and Jamie seem to be getting good stuff again.

My main complaint is the padding. Every time they break for commercial, they tell you what they are going to do next. When they come back from commercial, they recap everything ad nauseam, leaving practically no time for anything else before the next commercial break.

I chose Adam & Jamie. They’re just the right mix of serious, knowledgeable play-by-play (Jamie) and entertaining color commentary (Adam), although sometimes I wish Adam would tone down his goofiness just a bit.

The build team is ok, Tory is reasonably smart & entertaining and of course Kari is both smart & hot, but Grant I find annoying. He means well, but he is such a dork sometimes. Whenever some big explosion or something goes off he shrieks and yells and jumps around like an overstimulated 12-year-old, it’s embarrassing.

All three of them do that.

Adam and Jamie. I find their unfiltered eccentricity interesting, and I feel like I learn more watching them work through a problem more than I do the build team. The build team is a little too ‘TV’ for me.

With that said, the build team doesn’t bug me particularly, they just come off a bit callow at times.

Both of these.

I could see having Jessi work with Adam and Jamie. I really love the Sunday Mythbuster marathons. Gives us something to watch other than house and garden, some freak screaming about aliens or the normal drivel on TV.

It’s isn’t blocked for me and it isn’t porn. It’s Jessi Combs’ personal website. It’s not current - the most recent updates are from 2010.

I like em all.

Likewise. The show doesn’t work without Adam and Jamie being different, but fairly technical; but it doesn’t work either without getting a break by watching the Scoobies at work.

I’d prefer to hang out with the build team, but I can’t really say I like their part of the show more. For me, the show is all about who gets the best stuff. And that’s whoever isn’t doing the myth that’s freaking obvious or the ones where the draw is only the explosion.

Adam and Jamie, more Jamie than Adam, although not by a lot. The fact that Jamie just seems like one of the coolest bosses on the planet puts him over the top. Not only does he run M5, but he’s the one putting bankroll into all this craziness with his shop, his tools, his reputation, etc.

Adam is a great creative guy and frontman, but Jamie is the brains and organization that makes it possible for Adam to get in front of that camera. Adam has his serious side, but I just don’t see him being able to do what Jamie does and build something like M5 and keep it running.

One of my favorite Mythbusters moments was when Adam and Jamie were testing Nikola Tesla’s [url=“Tesla's oscillator - Wikipedia”\infamous earthquake machine and weren’t getting very far. It was one of Grant’s earliest appearances if I remember correctly and it was a gadget of his which allowed the myth to be really tested. This told me Grant has skills beyond what they use him for in the show, which is more of the “boy wonder” style sidekick of the scientists, Jamie and Adam. I really think Grant could hang with the big boys. He’s clearly the most skilled engineer in the build team and always gets the jobs of the dangerous stuff like outfitting cars with remote control and he’s kind of the expert the others look to.

Enjoy,
Steven

It turns out that Jamie is capable of humor.

He’s just not as outgoing and manic as Adam is.

No real preference.

I like the Build Team more often, but I like the bosses more intensely.

That is to say, the Build Team…any of their segments will entertain me quite nicely, but Adam and Jamie might bore me (especially when they’re doing a revisit…they seem to be able to display enthusiasm for a given myth exactly once). And their banter seems a lot more natural and unscripted. (Adam’s lines sound particularly scripted, and Jamie comes across as reading from a script a lot more often. The Build Team rarely have either of those feelings, and when they sound scripted…that’s often part of the joke.)

But when Adam and Jamie manage to hit on something really interesting, and are able to muster genuine enthusiasm - when they cut a car in half with thermite, or start competing with each other, for instance - they get a lot more interesting than even the Build Team.

For the past few years it’s really two different shows, Adam and Jamie don’t have a lot of contact with the others.

There are strengths and weaknesses with both teams, but the other week was an episode of mini-myths that was 100% Build Team, and it was really good, I wanted it to be three hours long, so for that reason I vote the M7 Build Team.

Having said that, outside of the show Adam is an excellent speaker, and his and Jamie’s non-Mythbusters website will have him regularly having a chat about current techy toy nerdy-type events.
