Adam Jones : World class nimrod?

Actually, kind of lost in the noise is that Jones did say he would always stand for the anthem because he has family members who have served in the military.

MLB is very racially inclusive, but it’s not representative of the demographics of the USA.

And as to your ultimate question, I think it’s the latter.

If the country is something like 64% white, 12% black, 16% hispanic, 5% Asian and 3% everything else, then baseball is awfully close at 28.5% hispanic, 8.3% black, 1.7% asian 2.4% other and 59.1% white. If anything, it’s skewed Hispanic.

That’s not to say that it’s perfectly representative, but representative enough and inclusive enough to where any complaints about racial representation are going to find some pretty rocky ground to try and grow on.

“(Hank Aaron told me) 'Don’t dig in against Bob Gibson, he’ll knock you down. He’d knock down his own grandmother if she dared to challenge him. Don’t stare at him, don’t smile at him, don’t talk to him. He doesn’t like it. If you happen to hit a home run, don’t run too slow, don’t run too fast. If you happen to want to celebrate, get in the tunnel first. And if he hits you, don’t charge the mound, because he’s a Gold Glove boxer.”
