I hope they can bring it back to life
What was it? It says that itโs coming back up eventually, whatever it was.
They had lots and lots of commercials in .mov format, with top 10 lists and so on. There were some really hilarious commercials on there. A while back, however, the site owner said he could no longer afford the bandwidth, so he took the site down.
I thought I remembered reading that a while ago and that the new owners were going to a total pay-to-use basis. ?
pay to see ads?!
For a historical archive; sure.
The site also had ads from around the world. (IIRC)
For any Media Arts students it would be a gold mine well worth paying for. While as an academic resource it may have a significantly lower audience, it is still a perfectly viable business model.
Other ad companies might also very well like to be able to get on demand digital copies of successful ad campaigns in the past in order to study them for what made them successful, thus is could serve as a business resource as well.
I donโt think Iโd pay to use the site, but it was fun for seeing things like the Superbowl commercials (I will not watch sports) and other humorous ads.
