I hadn’t really paid much attention to Adele and then this WATCH: Adele Impersonates an Adele Impersonator was in my news feed a few days ago. I really enjoyed it and checked out the album. Well she is an absolute genius. I’m now a big fan.

I know what the OP refers to by “sounding like she’s trying too hard”; just not in regard to Adele. The previously mentioned Mses. Carey and Aguilera are prime examples. There’s no denying they have excellent voices but the way they *use *them is not pleasant to my ears. I don’t get that at all from Adele but I can relate to the sentiment. To those that agree she is trying too hard or don’t like her type of voice, who / what style do you like?I’m not baiting you so as to ridicule your choices, just wondering.

It’s a bummer that you don’t like the song because it’s already everywhere and doesn’t look it’s going away anytime soon. The album is doing HUGE business.

So I am not the only one that finds her voice grating as opposed to great. I am happy to hear this. Adele’s voice is not to my liking at all.

OK, I looked up “Hello” on YouTube and… meh. Adele’s a great singer, but the song is boring dreck; the type of dull, inoffensive background music they play at the mall.

I’ve been listening to it a bit. Her vocals are amazingly good, but the song is pretty weak.

This is why I tend not to listen to the most popular music. Not because I’m some hipster geek, but because popular almost inevitably means catchy, and catchy means ear worm.

I was really thinking of him more as affected, but Moonage Daydream isn’t really holding much back. He’s not married to the style, but he has his moments, and I love it when he does it.

I like Adele and even like at least one or two other songs I have heard on this Album but I also hate this song.
