Admin reaction in ATMB

Conrapuntal, as the OP, asked that his thread Are bannings no longer announced? be closed, and so it it was, without comment. Fair enough, but I was looking forward to learning how Lynn and Tuba responded to my and others’ comments there. If they have responses they wish to post, they can do so here.

(I hope the title of this thread isn’t interpreted as inflammatory; it’s just meant to be pithy.)

The admins nerves seem a little frayed, no doubt about that. There is a annoying subset of the SDMB community with some regular players who second guesses everything the admins do, but their written diatribe didn’t seem warranted in that thread.

And a subset who blindly supports the admins, of course.

Don’t be surprised if they tell you to pith off, then.

Ooh, I walked right into that one! I’m such a schlamozel.

True, but you don’t see them whinging every time a mod fixes coding in a thread.

That wasn’t a meltdown. At best it was somewhat justifiably testy. I know I’d hate to be doing a job where I was second-guessed by every dick with $14.99 and a sense of entitlement.

Heh. I only pay seven bucks.

You’re right–it wasn’t a meltdown. I’ve already sent an email suggesting that it be changed to something bland and boring like “Re: Are bannings no longer announced?”

I don’t think the testiness was particularly justified, though. Sure, I’d hate a job like that, too, but that’s why I don’t volunteer to be a mod! (Not that they’d want me.) It amazes me that the job is acutally done by people who seem to hate it every bit as much as or more than I would! I mean, they’re not doing it for the money are they? Is the coffee cup really that nice? Maybe I should buy one after all!

Also, for the record, even if I did hate the job as much as I think I would, I still think I’d be able to keep from getting worked up about on the boards. I mean, I just don’t care that much what you putzes think! And if I found I couldn’t, I’d definitely look for something else to do.

But then, I just don’t like to get angry on-line, anyway. Looking at the popularity of the Pit, though, it’s obvious some do! Even real life, I tend to direct my anger inward. Maybe if I’d be healthier if I could work up a good pitting about something! But healthy or not, I don’t think the comments by Tuba and Lynn were very appropriate, and I’m curious how they see their reactions.

I agree that Tuba and Lynn’s comments weren’t appropriate. You’re tired of people asking the same questions over and over again? I’m tired of threads about American politics. You’re tired of people second-guessing every Mod or Admin action? Maybe you should go moderate at boards where people can’t be arsed to question anything.

(The comment about “Nitpicker Central” was right on, though.)

I was honestly a little surprised at Tuba’s reaction in post #13. I didn’t think the thread topic or most of the posts were unreasonable. Contrapuntal made a point to keep the discussion about the question at hand, which was about announcements. Aldiboronti was actually asking why the guy was banned. While innapropriate, it didn’t seem like it would garner such a testy response.

I’m not here to criticize. Tuba Diva has been understanding with me in the past over my mistakes and I think she does a good job. I do agree that the discussion from that thread got pretty testy, though.

I think what’s happened here is that the mods recently (not been here long, not sure how often they get called on things) have had a lot of complaints about them made, and also a lot of not complaints, but “calling out” of their actions respectfully. I think Tuba (mistakenly, IMHO) took out her legitimate annoyance at some of the second-guessing in what was actually a respectful thread. I can see how that would happen - “Lots of threads second-guessing mods and being rude, here’s another thread about the mods, it must be rude and lacking substance like the others” - and it’s understandable, but if this is the case a short post (not apologising, but explaining) wouldn’t go amiss. I suspect that’s probably being discussed by the mods right now, if they aren’t busty.

Busty?

::snickers::

Dammit! What I meant, of course, was* busy*. :smack:

I’m sure the extent to which the mods are, uh, endowed, has no effect on their judgement in this case. :stuck_out_tongue:

Enquiring minds want to know how busty samclem, Frank, and dex are.

Does this explain why Frank changed his name?

The mods are busty? Hmmmm…jack booted, in underpants, a mod hat, and busty. That’s quite the mental picture I’m getting.

Do I have to do one of those two click linky things?

Only if man-boobs count as porn.

That was possibly one of the funniest exchanges I’ve seen here. Here’s for a new running gag!
