Possibly effective, but it has the exact tone of “adopt this pet from the animal shelter” type advertisement, and just seems a bit… odd. Plus, I thought white families were beating down the doors for white toddler type kids. Woud they really need a newspaper ad to place him withan adoptive family?

Elmo has a huge fan here in Arizona. His name is Michael.
This adorable, brown-haired, brown-eyed boy, who will be turning 3 this summer, loves everything Sesame Street. He enjoys the television show and the videos and spends lots of time playing with his Tickle Me Elmo toy.
Michael relishes any opportunity to watch a Disney movie, whether on video or in the theater. He gets a huge kick out of special movie outings, like the one he and his foster family took to see Disney’s Brother Bear.
A curious youngster, Michael is almost constantly busy exploring his surroundings. He is an eager learner with an inquisitive and determined nature.
Sometimes Michael can be a little overadventurous, trying to do things that he is not big enough to do, like riding a skateboard. Recently, his foster mother taught him how to ride a bicycle with training wheels.
Michael is a very personable and friendly youngster who loves to talk. Even though people sometimes have a difficult time understanding what he is saying, Michael doesn’t mind. He loves to gab! He tends to speak in simple one- to two-word phrases.
etc. etc.
