I hear of famous women adopting children all over the place.
How prevalent is it in real life?
Do you know any single women or men who have adopted?
Didn’t it used to be only couples were allowed to adopt?
Happens all the time these days. I have a cousin in Boston, a white single woman, who has adopted two black children (they must be teenagers by now). I think I’ve read that there are so many children out there who need homes that they don’t require that it be only couples adopting anymore.

Gentlemen DO prefer blondes – and with good reason!
Yup. I suspect it’s perhaps a wee bit faster process for, say, Rosie O’Donnell to get newborns than for a regular single person, but an older kid – even just two or three years old – is worlds harder to place with a couple. There seems to be a potential parent out there for almost every kid, though.
yup here too. Friend of mine adopted a daughter about 15 years ago, we both became parents about the same time, except her daughter was already 4 years old.
I work in Washington, DC. One of my co-workers, a single woman, has two little adopted kids. She is white and they are black, FWIW.
