So, every spring I buy 10 or 12 of the same or extremely similar tailored T-shirts from Lands End, black and navy, for the summer season. And every fall I buy 10 or 12 of the 3/4-sleeve length knit shirts from Lands End, black and navy, for the winter season. Last year’s winter shirts are not in great shape and have gradually been tossed as they stretch out, fade or get the inevitable grease spot down the front.
So, you know what I realized? The summer shirts are still in good shape so instead of getting all new winter shirts (~$300), I can just keep wearing them and buy one sweater!! D’oh! Who knew?!? Anyone with an ounce of frugality, that’s who! I have a black cardigan so I just had to buy a navy one! and to make myself feel better that I will be wearing it all season, I got monogramming! (Told you it was relative frugality.) GG looks really pretty in the script.
I think I am all set! Tales of :smack: “I could do that instead” or clothes woes/joys welcome…
Do you dry these shirts? I have several Lands’ End t-necks that are about 10 years old. Most are worn at least once a week through the winter months. None have ever been machine dried and none have stretched out. Permanent staining has not occurred as the offending spots have not been heat set. Fading is only noticeable if an old one is compared to a new one.
There are also a few 20 year old Drifter sweaters still making the rounds of my friends’ kids…
(Ooh, why did I click the link? Now I have to look through the catalog.)
When I was thinner (I’m not huge now, but I am talking when I weighed about 118 on a 5’7" frame), I bought my turtlenecks in the boy’s department. Saved a ton of $$ for something that only the “collar” would show…
