Adventures with cancer

I’m baaaack… a brief update:

I got stuck with a cancer diagnosis after my colonoscopy - two benign polyps and a cancerous mass located at the hepatic juncture. The alien mass was causing havoc by chronic bleeding leading to anemia and needing to get iron infusions as well as EPO injections to boost the blood counts.

Surgery was laproscopic - the mass and a half the colon were removed and the large intestine was replumbed onto the small intestine, the pathology came back as 1B, early stage malignancy that will likely not need any additional treatment (get to see the oncologist on Friday).Only spent 3 days in the hospital, still sore with the bellybutton incision and the healing areas itch like crazy.

Just another reminder - don’t put off your colonoscopy screenings, especially if there is a family history.

Stay well and get scoped.

What do you mean “I’m baaaack”?

This is your first post here. Are you lost?

Or used to post with another username?

Great advice re: scoping. Hang in there. It doesn’t freak you out half as much after a week or two. Still better in a month or two- you get it. Glad it worked out well for you.

Sorry to hear you’re suffering but it sounds like things went as well as could be expected.

And yes, don’t put off any sort of cancer screenings if possible. The earlier stuff gets caught, the better the outcomes.

Also: did you used to be pythonzzz? Because if so the mods can sort out any account issues if you tell them now.
