Advertising of Business with questionable ethics

Saw a new ad on the SDMB that said “Your Computer Is Under Attack Right Now!” With blinkling excalimation points and other ruffles and flourishes. The ad leads to

Which apears to be a leggitamate network news television station, but of course is just selling antivirus software. It, to me, has the appearance of being one of those fake virus sales schemes.

http://www.news7-daily.com appears to be a web hosting site.

Can we remove this dreck and replace it with some honorabe businesses we might actually want to patronize and thereby support the dope?

Easier said than done. Even the ones that seem nice on the surface will eventually steal your kidneys and leave your body in a dumpster.

Particularly the ones for that Giraffe Board thingy.

These ads are sold by brokers. We can refuse certain broad categories, such as ads with sound, but we don’t get to select individual ads, and there’s no category for “cheesy.” In the fullness of time we hope to replace these remnant national ads with local ads for massage parlors, escort services, and other high-quality enterprises.

Excellent. I’ll start working on my ads.

Wow, Ed. This is definitely my kind of place. You sir, clearly know how to throw a party.

May I be the first to offer adult services in exchange for lunch with Cecil?

You should have been around when he was offering the “Hookers and Blow” subscription deal.
