My hair has a tendancy for getting rather greasy, so I use a shampoo specifically designed to get rid of all that nasty ol’ grease, but that leaves my hair looking fluffy and sort of curly; which is not good. Any tips on what I can do to improve the condition of my hair?
It sounds like you’re using an overly harsh shampoo. I have fairly greasy hair, but it still works better for me to use a normal shampoo, make sure I wash my hair really well (rub your fingers all over your scalp when you shampoo) and it gets clean enough to avoid greasiness without becoming dry. Another idea is a very light spray-on conditioner after you shampoo, which shouldn’t make your hair look greasier but will tame the fluffiness.
Avoid harsh shampoos; anything specifically for oily hair will tend to overdry and potentially damage your hair.
If your hair is still strong and free of split ends, what you probably have is a styling problem, not a hair condition problem. If that makes sense. Your hair is healthy, which is good. But you don’t like the way it looks.
When your hair is clean, it’s fluffy and curly. There are a lot of things to fix that. A little mousse or gel may do the trick.
You could also try Frizz Ease Hair Serum. This is something you rub into your hair while it’s wet. It smooths out the hair.
You can also experiment with hair conditioners. A heavy conditioner will make your hair flatter and straighter when it dries.
You can also straighten your hair as you dry it. Use your brush to gently pull your hair straight, then dry it like that. Of course, this takes a little practice.
