I’m going to be taking a trip in the near future, and I’m going to be driving for probably about 6 days total. I’m going to have my ipod playing, seemingly the whole time. I also might play my Nintendo ds at rest areas while I’m resting. I have a DS car charger already, but not one for my ipod, which will be more important. I’ll also have my cell phone, although that won’t need charging too often. I don’t have a car charger for that either. My question is,in your opinion, would it be better to get an inverter, and just use available plugs, or get gadget specific car chargers? I’ll only be charging stuff while I’m on the road. I’ve never used an inverter before, so I don’t really know the +/-'s about them. Have you had good experiences with them, or would you personally spend the money and get the specific stuff?
Since you’re not trying to run a toaster you could get by fine with the small plug in style inverters. I got a two pack of them at Costco for about $20 and keep one in my camera bag since one of my chargers only runs on AC. Still I have a Belkin car charger I got at Wally World for about $7.50, they have them for nearly all brands of phones.
