If you’re feeling guilty about something either do something about it or just stop feeling guilty. – My mom

Never force a fart. – My brother

Bolding mine.

Sort of like seeing it on a bumper sticker??? (just kidding… it seemed ironic, although I fully acknowledge the latter didn’t likely change much about you.

My submission (though it isn’t a one liner):

“People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Don’t be so hard on yourself; no one gets his shit together once and for all.

You are free to use it.

As you can see, none of these are mine. They’re worth spreading around, so go for it.

When you have to kill a man, it costs nothing to be polite. - Winston Churchill

When I was growing up, whenever I had a little money, I would buy books. Then, if there was any left over, I would buy food or clothes. - Erasmus

In this world, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant. For years I was oh so smart. I recommend pleasant. And you may quote me on that. - Elwood P. Dowd

Bring a towel. It’ll help while you’re out on the roads of the universe.

These two are my own inventions, I’m pretty sure:

The past is a fun place to visit, but you can’t live there.

I know some people really living in the past. Life’s too short, man! Plus, you can’t change the past. It’s done, gone, unalterable. Live for today, and plan for tomorrow. As for yesterday, all you can do is learn from it.

Keep your tools sharp, you never know when you may need them.

This is equal parts metaphorical and literal. A small but intelligently stocked tool box will teach you that you CAN fix broken things, and you don’t need to depend on someone else to do it for you. Metaphorically,
“tools” can mean skills and intelligence, and keeping them sharp means you should always be building your skills and attempting to increase your intelligence.

Now, some I’ve heard:

Placebo effect is better than no effect at all!

Sometimes you have to do SOMETHING, even if you know it isn’t solving the real problem. Sometimes merely trying will lift your spirits or give you new insight. Never give up without a fight.

Wherever you go, there you are. -Buckaroo Banzai OR, the Social Distortion version: Wherever I have gone, I was sure to find myself there. You can run all your life, but not go anywhere.

Obviously, you can’t run from ourself. If you keep seeing the same problems crop up in your life over and over again, try and think about how you might be allowing them to happen…

I sound like a fucking motivational poster. Gah. KILL ME NOW. Oh well.

Feel free to quote any and/or all.

Follow your bliss. Joseph Campbell

One that fits my life:
Not all who wander are lost. JRR Tolkien

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

This is a Chinese(?) proverb, I believe. It embodies my general approach to people and organizations: You get the benefit of the doubt the first time. But if you screw me, you’d better make it good - because you won’t get a second chance to do so.

Whatever you are, be a good one. - Abraham Lincoln

Even if you’re not confident, act like you are. After awhile, the act becomes reality!
Hmmm, lets see if I can find some more…

Don’t wish your life away. Be happy at whatever stage of life you’re in right now.

No good deed ever goes unpunished.

and the sig…

“Your desires turn into necessities.”

“somebody has to be the bad guy” (interpret however you want)

When things in life go wrong for you their are two things you can do; you can either bitch about it or you can do something about it.

Fool me once… shame on me, fool me twice, shame… on, fool me, uhhh… fool me once you can’t get fooled again! -GWB
