Anyone heard of this? It showed up after a Norton/Symantec virus scan, only the virus scanner couldn’t get rid of it or quarantine it. When I went to the Symantec Web page for assistance, there was none. What does this adware/virus do at worst, and how does one get rid of it?
Files with a .htm extension are Hypertext Markup web pages. Probably your Nortorn flagged this as a malicious webpage, possibly in your cache or Favorites folder, probably because of some javascript in it or it contains a link to a known virus file. See if you can navigate to the folder where it was found and manually delete it. You may need to change its permissions if the Read Only bit is set in the Properties. As long as you don’t use a web browser to open this file, it can’t do any harm.
Thanks! Are there any other variations on this–in other words, other viruses or adware/spyware that has a similar name?
