Used to watch Liquid Television on MTV, and the only clip of Aeon Flux I ever saw involved her being outside a window on the ledge of a building. For some reason there’s a tack on the ledge which she steps on. End of clip. What happened after that?
As I recall, she falls and dies. A metaphor for how the little things can trip you up.
Aeon dies in most (all?) of the shorts. The full episodes have an overarching story, such as it was.
I remember most of those Aeon Flux segments on Liquid TV (not the Aeon Flux series that came later) not really having an overall narrative; they were one-off shorts and, if memory serves, in most of them she dies at the end. Continuity did not seem to be a concern in those shorts.
Thanks guys.
She not only died in all of them (I think she survived the final longer episode, but none of the ones prior), she would die because of some trivial seeming detail: a small puddle of liquid, a broken heel, a shifted chair, etc that would turn the previous five minutes of acrobatics into a failure.
There was one where she was escaping acrobatically through an endless jungle gym, only to find that the ungainly long legged robots she had easily dodged past earlier were perfectly designed for fast travel through the obstacles. Crunch.
The best was the one where the protagonist constantly changes- every awesome “hero” gets killed, and then killer suddenly becomes the awesome new main character. Great subversion of tropes.
