Ooops, my bad :smack:
or the Looney Tunes movie with Brendan Fraser. From the article :
I think that “What’s up, Doc ?” at least, would qualify.
or “Better… Better bring me a bucket”
BTW, welcome home jin

I’m assuming it’s because Monty Python is strictly British, and not originally distributed by an American studeo. I could be wrong. What is their critera for a British movie vs. American movie?
I was surprised by no A Clockwork Orange quotes. Any quote from that movie is better than “Allllrighty then”.
The thing is, the first James Bond quote, is from Dr No, the first of the serie, which I am quite sure was a UK production and the second one is from Goldfinger. Now if they had used quotes from later movies, I wouldn’t quibble.
Oh, and ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’!
If there’s only one it’s GOT to be…“Who are these guys?”
I can think of better quotes from Pulp fiction:
“Well then, allow me to retort!”
“I’m gonna go medieval on his ass!”
“You’re gonna feel a little sting. That’s called pride.” (not sure exactly how this goes.)
“Zed’s dead, baby.”
“Personality goes a long way.”
and from Spinal tap:
“There’s a fine line between clever and stupid.”
“So if they tie us up, that’s ok. But if we tie them up, it’s sexist.”
“Kick my ass. Go on, kick it. I’m not asking you I’m telling you!”
“A rockumentary, if you will.”
“Well, Boston cancelled. But I wouldn’t worry about it, it’s not much of a college town.”
This is my boom stick.
Definite lack of anything from Bruce Campbell
“Yippie kay yea, motherf****r” made it, but not “I’m too old for this s**t” ?
The quote from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid should have been:
“Think you used enough dynamite there, Butch?”
“It goes to eleven.”
The best quote from Spinal Tap is the “Lick My Love-Pump” one.
That list isn’t by ranking, it’s alphaetical.
You’re a little confused here. The American Film Institute, founded in 1967, does those Top 100 specials. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, founded in 1927, awards the Oscars. Two separate organizations.
That’s odd. AFI, meet the AFI: In the indispensable reference work The American Film Institute Catalog of Motion Pictures, a feature is defined as 40 minutes or longer. Likewise, the Motion Picture Academy and the British Film Institute both define a feature as 40+ minutes in running time.
IMO, the most glaring example of a biggie that they missed was:
"The horror. The horror."
–Col. Kurtz from Apocalypse Now
(and maybe also: “Charlie don’t surf.”)
Nothing from Fletch?! The mind boggles!
(By the way, I love your body, Larry.)
You’re right. I think I was writing the OP as I was also writing to the thread about whose Oscar should be revoked. Thanks for setting it straight.
Love the inclusion of the Airplane! quotes! that whole movie could be in there
