I do find it fascinating that for the Republicans, what made them cave was not the fact that they were stiffing the average working man, but the danger that they might hurt their buddies on Wall Street. 10 million people without paycheques, corner stores and campgrounds and souvenir stands screaming for lost business, people can’t make house payments? Meh… Bankers not going to get bond payments on time? Quick, make a deal!!
Their masters cracked the whip. Exactly as predicted. 16 days of no paychecks and no services for the people, and you can walk all the way up to the line on the bankers, but don’t cross it for even a nanosecond.
