The 5 directions are Q123E, and most developers reccomended using the mouse to move isntead of the keyboard to make it easier.
And there are FOUR base classes, not 3, Rogue, Soldier, Priest, Caster.
What? No, I wasn’t one of the most prolific posters on the official pre-release board or in closed beta (I’m amazed they lifted the NDA… they never did for AO), why do you ask?
I was planning to hold out for WAR, but maybe I’ll have to give this a try. Though with the systems requirements I’d only be able to play this one at home (which I’m almost never there, so probably not)…I seriously doubt my laptop could handle this.
How ‘deep’ is this game compared to WoW and Vanguard and LOTROnline? It looks great from an outsider’s standpoint, but if it doesn’t have the quest depth or crafting depth or all the rest, doesn’t this game just represent a more shallow fighting-scaled MMO? I hope I am wrong, because I really want to think that there is trading and housing and all of that…
What is the level cap, and where is it supposed to be going in the future? The main site is a little vague on this information.
Argh, the more I look at the videos and the comments from people who have played so far the more I want to try this! Dare I? With Mass Effect PC so damn close to release?
It’s striking how much bloodier this game is on release than it was in beta. Since Tuesday evening, my SO has been lopping off limbs and slashing throats and getting bloodstains everywhere. Also, there’s boobies! Nice, large, perky boobies. You can strip and not be thwarted by surprise undergarments. I think I love M-rated games.
I’m intrigued by the combat system. I liked the idea of directional meleeing (attacking in a direction rather than at a specific target) but the extension of that to tanking and healing is… interesting. The concept is good, as it will require parties to think about positioning and utilization of the environment, but I don’t think I want to actually be a tank or healer in the game. :\
Thats odd, you COULD download the game if you were one of the early access pre orders, but that wouldn’t do you much good without a cd key. The download link still works too, i don’t see why they don’t sell keys online.
I’m planing on upgrading my PC to play this and would like to know what servers people are gonna play on so I can myself and my best friend on that server. Please help me play a MMO with intelligent people please…
I love Howard’s stories and I’ve been signed up to beta test since this thing was first announced… But sadly, I built my last computer in 2004 and its currently a pretty paper weight. Damm you XP Pro and your death!
Hmmm, anyone have any combat tips? Apparently I’m doing fine, having no toruble with anything in the starting jungle. But all I do is hit 123 randomly and repeatedly. Any strategy to doing this?
Watch for the white arc-like graphics on the mob you have targeted. They show where the mob is directing its defense. The more arcs, the greater the damage reduction.
Also, combo specials require certain directed attacks as a follow up. After starting a certain special, you’d hit the attack from above, key, etc.
You’ll need to get this working for you when you start getting past level 10 or so.
What Knorf said. Watch the white arcs. Don’t attack into them. Use your special attacks.
Dammit! I want to see some boobies! I’ve managed my first beheading on a Pict (not sure how really), but I’ve yet to see any nekkiditty. I saved some bimbo in the jungle and delivered her to Tortage. She made some promises, but now I can’t find her in the city. :smack:
I think its random chance when doing a combo that kills the target, i’ve found some items that increase your chance at a fatality that seem to support the random theory. Some people say you gotta land a killing blow with the last hit of a combo to get a fatality.
Spells also seem to trigger fatalities… but it appears to be completely random. I started a Demonologist last night, and that was the first character I noticed achieving a fatality.
As an aside, I really enjoy playing a pure caster class in this game. I must admit, I don’t care much for the combo system (I’d rather keep my eye on the action instead of my button bar or keyboard), so it’s nice to not have to deal with it.
