It wasn’t that cold. No frosty breath (not even CGI) and they were all walking without face protection. They weren’t going to get frostbite from a little hike in the woods with no wind.
SoCal, huh?
You ever walk through seven miles of snow? Sure it looked easy; they were on a TV show. But three or four hours of exposure to freezing temperatures is not trivial.
Pffft! When I was a kid I had to walk 7 miles to school everyday, then 7 miles back home. It was always snowing and I had to go uphill both ways. Whenever anyone asked me why I didn’t just use my mom’s flying car, I would always tell them flying cars are for pussies.
I do that on a fairly regular basis. Temps below freezing aren’t really a problem. It doesn’t become a serious problem until you’re below zero F. There’s no such thing as bad weather, just inadequate clothing.
I still don’t buy it fully. She jumped before she knew there was a cure. Fitz discovered the cure after she had jumped and he briefed Ward on it. I think her jump was a genuine suicide attempt.
I will say this. I have disliked Ward as a generic handsome agent. Not anymore.
I know it’s a joke but you’ve raised a point I think people are missing. There’s a big difference between walking outside in the winter and walking through snow. Walking through seven miles of Canadian forest is not the same as walking across the mall parking lot.
He really is much better at playing a villain- his scene with Raina was probably his best acting of the entire season.
7 years in Alaska and winter camping since then. The snow looked to be less than 2 inches deep and they were wearing the right clothing. SHIELD is all pussies if they can’t handle a little level-ground hike.
Playing total Devil’s Advocate here, but could the jumping be a support for the ‘blackmailed’ theory for Simmons? I mean, if she was poisoned and was going to die anyway, if she was a true Hydra agent, I would think taking down the Bus in a way that leaves no evidence that it was anything other than a terrible accident would be a great move.
But if she is an unwilling double agent, then if she’s going to die anyway, then why not save her friends and SHIELD while she can?
Hmmm…
And I like the idea that none of the Hydra agents would know who else was Hydra other than the one person who recruited/bribed/blackmailed them. Makes me wonder, who was Simmons’ Hydra contact… Perhaps the head of that university that she called? That would be interesting.
Depends on what her mission was. If she was instructed to discover Coulson’s secret, killing him wouldn’t accomplish that goal. Better to jump and let some other agent try again.
Maybe they’re all HYDRA. Fury is the one pulling the strings, and in the last episode he’ll pull off his digital mask and reveal himself as Red Skull.
I thought that would be an interesting twist at first, but I think it was just intended as a crude burn by Garrett. We know Ward’s into Skye. I suppose he could be bisexual, but I doubt it - making a joke about a bisexual person having a “straight version” for undercover work seems like less of a joke.
Sounds just like the Fury we know, to me.
I hear next episode, Skye and May are going to get naked on camera while Fitz is due for a bloody decapitation by the breakaway Canadian faction of S.H.I.E.L.D. which declared independence during the HYDRA turmoil.
Plus they’re going to spend a lot of time in some guy’s garden.
I’d never known that Warehouse 13 existed in the Marvelverse.
Casting news for the 4/29 episode:
Maria Hill and Deathlok are both featured as characters
Didn’t Garrett say “that’ll keep SHIELD busy” when he was releasing prisoners? Seems like a good set up for lots of stand alone eps while we wait for the build up to the next Marvel movie.
That was my take - we now know what Coulson and the friendly 4 will be doing.
I finally got the chance to go see Winter Soldier on Wednesday, and then immediately went home and watched the two latest episodes of AoS, so I got the whole Hydra reveal in one big dose. I really enjoyed seeing the big picture reveal in Winter Soldier, and then seeing how it affected the little guys right after. It brought home how in *WS *we’re seeing how it affects the top brass, but made me ponder how it must have affected all the background characters. All those squads of soldiers and pairs of agents running around in WS must have been going through the same thing as our team, not knowing what was really going on or who to trust.
Marvel is killing it with their shared universe.
My thoughts as well, probably a good portion of next season.
Isn’t there an excellent chance both vehicles on the Bus were down from the prior episodes fire-fight?
That tired joke should only be used if you’re trying to make someone groan. But damn if that last sentence didn’t crack me up.
How the hell did page 2 get this deep and NO ONE mention this?!?
Bravo cuz this was friggin hilarious.
I am in the camp that if Simmons is also HYDRA it would be a bit too much for me, it would bring me out of the “oh wow a bad guy was there the whole time!” cloud and into the “ok this is a TV show making it interesting” land.
I LOVE Ward as HYDRA too and think he should stay that way. No coming back to the good guys because of a love for Skye, blech.
Is it possible they realized Ward was miscast and are going to kill him off?
In the beginning, it was obvious to me that they should have made Ward the Dethlok character and made J. August Richards play Ward. It’s too late to put Gunn(uh, I mean Richards) in the lead role, but it may not be too late to kill of the Ward character.
