Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D S01E22:Beginning of the End (open spoilers)

Ward’s going to–whatever facility replaced The Fridge–as the supermax prison for the Marvel Universe. Getting him out would take a major jailbreak, possibly with super villain assistance. There’s a few baddies running around that could possibly do it, so maybe it will be part of the arc next season. Might even make a good cliffhanger for mid-season or the next season finale…

More likely, they didn’t want to run up the insurance budget to cover Jackson actually doing any sort of stunt work on set. So while Gregg was getting tossed around, Jackson was standing around – safely out of the way of potential injuries.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they set up everything in advance so Jackson could appear and record all of his scenes in a day or maybe two. So the studio probably intentionally used the most minimal shooting techniques so they could just have Jackson stand in one place and deliver his lines without having to work out camera movement.

I can see Thunderbirds wasn’t big over there…that would be my go-to reference for this functionality. Of course, their pods could float.

It was a lab unit, sealed to keep microbes in or out. It wasn’t designed to float. It just would.

Well, of course it floats if it’s just wood.

Nah. It weighs more than a duck.

Would the people who worked for the bad guys because of the “incentives program” be considered criminals or victims?

God I hope not. Hands down he was the worst thing about the latter half of the season. His terrible over-acting was completely out of place.

I disagree. His over-the-top scenery-chewing was just what the series needed to kick it into Marvel-land.

It was very comic book. Whenever I read old comics, I’m amazed at the over the top monologuing.

It was the way he did it, not the concept. He just acted badly.

They should, however, picked someone that could act. Or at least felt like trying.

I feel the same way about Samuel Jackson.

Huh. I didn’t think he over-acted until he “saw the universe” or whatever, and maybe a little comic-book crazy is what’s needed at that point. I enjoyed him before he was revealed to be HYDRA, and even after. His short monologue before being ‘sploded reminded me of his"finger-LICKIN’ good" scene in Near Dark, in a good way.

It looks like there’s going to be a lot more to the Ward story next season. From Maurissa Tancharoen, and reported on io9 (and forgive me if this has apready been posted here):

In a way, there’s a nice parallel between Agent Ward and Agent Coulson, two men who’ve sort of been stripped of everything they’ve believed in and are left with nothing — all of them, collectively, are searching for their purpose. What is the purpose of S.H.I.E.L.D.? How will they define themselves now? Now that Garrett is gone, what does that mean for Ward? Will he come to something on his own? That is something we hope to explore in Season 2.

That’s good news. Getting Ward out of prison won’t be difficult for the writers. I hope he doesn’t become a crazed Skye stalker like the guy who was after the cellist. Could be though, since that’s the last direction Garrett gave him.

I’d guess that Skye’s parent has Raina break Ward out of SHIELD prison, and he’s tasked with bringing Skye back to him/her.

Either that, or Talbott uses Ward to help him track down Coulson. After all, there’s been nothing to indicate the US govt. or WSC has reversed their position on SHIELD. I think the team will still be dodging other security organizations all next season.

Except the fact that Triplett called in the Air Force to take over Cybertek after Our Heroes broke everything. There were military-types all over, and nobody seemed to be after SHIELD people. Personally, I hope the first episode of next season shows Ward stepping in front of a speeding train entirely by accident.

Yeah, except for that I guess. Maybe Triplett had a backup NSA identity or something. Or he called May’s mother.
