Then he needs a different haircut.
and get rid of the stache.
And the third brother turns out to be Kyle Maclachlan! Dun dun dunnnnn!
Have you been reading this thread? Nobody is saying they think Grant Ward is trustworthy or has redeemed himself and become a good guy. We’re just not buying the idea that Chris Ward is any better. Immediately taking Chris at face value this year would be as foolish as immediately taking Grant at face value was last year.
No, the third brother is Trip, who’s been hiding among the team since last season.
The haircut is fine, the 'stache needs to go. Talbot needs to spend a week or two stranded in the desert so he can get all scruffy. Not as scruffy as Ward’s hipster/terrorist beard though.
HIYOOO! <rimshot>
I agree, especially when Coulson is talking to the Senator and Senator Ward says something like “Oh, it’s a well now?” like he is familiar with several variations of Agent Ward’s sob back story.
Also, I am not a big fan of Bobbi’s “sticks of doom” as a choice of weapon. They don’t dispatch Hydra agents very quickly when doing infiltration operations. In fact they seem to slow her down.
Right, I’m not by any stretch saying that Grant is anything but an evil psychopath. But I’m willing to believe that Christian did force Grant to torture their younger brother, that Grant is still terrified of Christian, and Christian is just as much of an evil psychopath as Ward. And that any combination of those things could be true.
But what reason do you have to distrust him? Put yourself in his shoes. If you didn’t get to see what we see of SHIELD, wouldn’t you be terrified of them? They just built 3 carriers bristling with guns that they planned to use on US citizens. They are known to be heavily infiltrated with terrorists to the point that they seem to be more terrorists than anything else. Their agents go rogue and kill civilians every week. Wouldn’t you be wanting to bring them under control, at least until you can sort out what the hell is going on? Absolutely no action we saw him take was anything less than reasonable. We know Talbot to be a generally good person (even though he is opposed to SHIELD in some ways) and he trusts the Senator. Once the Senator talked to Coulson, he even reversed his public stance on SHIELD.
The only reason to think he’s evil is Ward’s word, and we know without a doubt that he is a liar.
We also have Garrett’s flashbacks and Ward didn’t want to kill his dog.
Not twisty enough. The third brother is Nick Fury. The screwdriver incident is when he lost his eye.
I take that “I’ll never lie to you” as one of those Hunting of the Snark things, i.e. repeat a phrase three times and that’s supposed to mean it’s true. Except when it isn’t.
And I’m hoping Simmons puts Ward down eventually. Somebody certainly should.
I was kinda hoping she would She-Hulk out.
Garrett’s flashbacks may be unreliable for a number of reasons. First, he was also a liar. Second, he was crazy. Third, and most importantly, Ward may have been deceiving Garrett from the beginning, hiding how truly psycho he was.
Maybe. Or maybe Ward was abused by his brother and abused by Garrett and he’s got a huge case of Stockholm Syndrome.
It’s hard to get any redemption after killing, but then again Coulson had no problem killing the Sword agents guarding the blue alien that seems to be at the bottom of a lot of messiness. And the FBI agents guarding Ward. They may not be dead, though.
Let’s not forget Angel and Spike on Buffy were mass murderers.
I was thinking after she got infected with the grey goo virus, she should have grabbed a couple of the Hydra guards and taken them with her.
“You kill me? I kill you right back.”
True! However, there was a mechanic in place for those shows that literally put the onus of those killings on another being: the demon inhabiting them. Once they had souls again, they were in every sense different people.
And that’s the brilliance of how it’s playing out in Agents of SHIELD: We’re used to bad guys getting redeemed on Whedon-clan shows. But there’s no soul loophole here.
Yeah, I was concerned when Mockingbird jumped through the still-disintegrating bad guy. Seems like a great way to disintegrate yourself, but apparently it’s like zombie blood from The Walking Dead: surprisingly non-fatal to humans.
Sure there is. Stockholm Syndrome. Ward has been a victim this whole time. Now he’s on his own, making his own decisions. Coulson is a good dad. ![]()
Or is he?
The stache is part of the character, though. Talbot’s always had that, other than in that terrible Eric Bana Hulk movie, and the less said of that version of the character the better.
Looked like Bobby Cobb to me. PENNY CAN!!!
