Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D S02E12: Who You Really Are

And that’s something that could have been handled in an interesting and subtle fashion, with grief building up and her lashing out and so forth. Instead, in about two lines of dialog she goes from someone who loves pretty much everyone to some kind of homicidal bigot.

Which makes me think that by “reasons” I meant “the writers want there to be some conflict so they just arbitrarily decided that her character would suddenly be that way”.

Well, they’re using Inhumans as a stand-in for mutants, and the big thing with mutants is they’re hated & feared by normals, who eventually enact laws against mutants, etc. So, it makes sense they’d introduce some of that fear on SHIELD.

And why not have her go to Asgard?

Keep her around with people she trusts”??:dubious: Trust? Skye trusts no-one, and no one trusts Skye nor does anyone trust anyone. She has a power she knows nothing about, that SHIELD knows nothing about, that Couson knows nothing about- a power she cant control and that the two experts say could destroy the Earth. One of those experts being a Goddess.

But noooo.:rolleyes::rolleyes: Screw the Earth, we have to protect our precious special butterfly Skye! Even tho they cant protect her and dont trust her- and she has shown she is not worthy of their trust on several occasions- including just recently.

It would make sense for Skye to go to Asgard for some training at least. Or, she’ll need to spend time with other more experienced Inhumans like that Gordon guy who teleports.

Right now she needs a Xavier or something, or she could trigger a mag 8 quake that could kill millions.

Oh, yeah. Let’s send our friend and partner to Asgard where she’ll be surrounded by amoral aliens who want all of her kind exterminated. That makes perfect sense. : old rolleyes:

Not friend, not partner, and Coulson trusts the Asgardians, and by and large (except Loki) they have shown themselves to be friends you can trust. Unlike Skye.

Asgardians aren’t amoral. They’ve appointed themselves protectors of the 9 realms (or whatever), including Earth. They don’t know certain Inhumans are nice. They’re Kree-made weapons. They’ll come around. Would Sif, Thor and the very wise Odin really kill Skye once it’s explained to them they can be innocent? No way.

And Heimdall could be a bit more helpful you’d think. Hey, where is Hydra? Right there. Hey, where’s this hidden base? Right there.

Coulson’s seen precisely 7 Asgardians* (and 3 of those just briefly), two of those have been evil: one of whom was responsible for the near-destruction of New York (and killing Coulson**) and the other wreaked merry havoc on the men of Shield. I’d say the jury should still be out on trusting them as a collective.

  • Not really counting that Asgardian-trapped-on-earth guy with the spear.

** He got better

Very wise Odin? Haven’t seen Thor 2, have you?

Exactly who is going to doing that explaining? Sif? The Kree? There aren’t any entities in Asgard who would look out for Skye’s interests. She’d be, at the very least, shipped off to The Collector. More likely just killed out of hand.

Fine, then they ALL go to Asgard.

Being a bit paranoid that other people don’t have Skye’s best interest at heart is reasonable. But believing that someone who just underwent alien magic and now is constantly almost causing earthquakes is safe to have around (presumably on an airplane, and on mission-critical SHIELD operations) just because of kumbaya is ridiculous.

There’s a middle ground where the whole team goes to some nice tectonically stable place somewhere and they aren’t in an airplane and they contact some experts (including possibly Asgardians) and they spend some time actually studying Skye and seeing what is going on, while ensuring that she isn’t treated cruelly or exploited. Studying her doesn’t automatically imply vivisection.

Besides Loki who was the other one?

As soon as she flashes those puppy dog eyes, the Asgardians will be pudding, just like Coulson’s team.

Yep, Sif’s first reaction when they told her someone had been changed - “Has it been put down?” And even later, Sif never said anything about training Skye, just taking her to Asgard to keep Earth safe - I think the very best Skye could hope for in Asgard would to be locked permanently in a somewhat comfortable cell. Maybe one that floods with a poison gas if any tremors are detected.

Does her superpower that forces everyone to stand around and talk about how special she is affect Asgardians?

The pseudo-Enchantress we saw in Season 1, who turned Ward into her pawn.

Of course!

Hulk is around and he could do more damage than Skye.

They really should organize a sit-down between Skye and Bruce Banner. Have him give her tips on emotional equilibrium.

Which would improve the series enormously. Except *one that floods with a poison gas if *any **breathing **is detected.

I thought this damn show was gonna be about *Coulson, *dammit- not another stupid waif-girl.

I’d be okay with locking up Mac. He’s got some Kree-powered Hulk rage in him. Kinda like Cal.

Initiating a succession fight among the Hydra heads wasn’t really an option before Whitehall’s death upset the existing equilibrium. Coulson’s plan was to give things a push when they were already unstable.

To be fair, she’s always been kind of a moron.
