Sif! Will she be inappropriately attracted to a human?

That episode was frikkin’ awesome.

I just had a Marvel-gasm, Wheedon style.

I was just thinking “I’m not liking Bobby, Mac & Simmons very much” and then - the ending! Bastards.

A Kree! A normal one. Sort of. Kind of a disappointment, but then he’s easier to integrate into the show.

Hunter better not be dead. I will never forgive Mac or Bobbi.

Based on this episode, I’m starting to swing over to the “Bobbi and Mack are working for Talbott” theory. It’s not something outright evil like Hydra but it clearly is something that the people in Shield are going to see as enemies. Bobbi and Mack acknowledge that the people they work with are going to feel betrayed when they “pull the trigger” and their situation will go downhill. (They agreed Hunter would be better off if he wasn’t a member of Shield when whatever’s going to happen happens.) This wouldn’t be the case if they were secretly working for Fury or Maria Hill or Tony Stark. (After all, May was spying on the team for Fury last season and people got over it.)

Awkward moment

We need to be protected from her

Ya think moment

I should have been more forthright

Huge episode.

Declan

He was moaning a bit after Mac choked him out. They must have put that in to make it clear he wasn’t dead.

Question for people who know the comics background - was the explanation the Kree (the Kree has a name!) gave for the Inhumans the same? Retired Kree weapons project?

Yep, that’s their origin (with a Celestial background to why humanity were suitable for Kree uplift in the first place)

At the risk of spoiling myself for this season…

I have literally the entire season so far on my dvr and haven’t watched an episode, but I think I’m going to tear into them this weekend. Just out of curiosity, how is this season been compared to the mediocre-to-good first season and the surprisingly awesome second season?

This is only the second season.

There was a first half of the second season. Now we’re into the second half of the second season.

I think the exchange about “Remember how you felt when you found out your friends were HYDRA?” “We’re not HYDRA!” was pretty telling. Whoever they’re working for (Fury, Stark, Hill, …) the rest of SHIELD will view them as traitors at worst, or as hiding secrets at best. They’re going to piss off Coulson and there will be repercussions, no matter how noble their goals.

That points more to Talbott than to A.I.M. or some similar group of Bad Guys. Bethca 10 quatloos it sets up Ultron. Maybe this band of baddies is one of the reasons Tony gears up the AI project to begin with?

I like they way they sneaked in the Kree naming convention. Stepping stone for Captain Marvel?

Hydra are definitely done for the next couple of seasons at least. Cal and his merry band of super-villians are about to take the stage.

No, it doesn’t point to Talbot as who they’re working for – Bobbi mentioned calling in “backup”, and as we’ve seen, absolutely everyone who Talbot has working for him is an incompetent boob. “Backup” that Bobbi would think would be helpful would be someone like Natasha Romanov or Maria Hill. Since I doubt they’ll get Scarlett Johansson as a guest star, it’ll probably be the Maria Hill cameo this season.

In addition to Bobbi and Mack losing sympathy for their complaining about how awful it was of Skye to keep a secret, they lost way more sympathy for protesting that Skye was too dangerous and that they have a right to be afraid of her – they’re all goddamn killer superspies. Every normal person in the world (incl. Fitz and Simmons) could have the same complaint of them.

Hell, Mack overpowered Hunter for just asking some uncomfortable questions. All Skye’s terrifying powers did was break some window glass. Of the two, all evidence in this episode is that it’s Mack who’s the danger needing to be locked up.

Oh…oops my bad.

Well regardless…hows the season doin?

Awesomely. They hit the ground running and haven’t stopped.

My thought was they were making references to Iron Man, but without any intention of ever showing up on this show. Black Widow might be a big help, but I don’t see Maria Hill as being a real “backup”.

Plus the huge earthquake they mentioned at the beginning of the last episode. They’ve got plenty of reason to fear Skye.

I thought this show was generally trending upward in quality… but both my wife and I have been TOTALLY bored and uninterested for these past two episodes, which most people seem to have enjoyed. Weird.

-So 7 minutes of screen time and a fairly obvious plot simultaneously decapitates every major head of HYDRA? Umm, good going guys! Maybe you should have taken the gloves off sooner?

-Suddenly Simmons, previously the most cheerful and loving character on the show, became suspicious and paranoid, because reasons

-Worst of all, Skye is being SUCH A MORON. So something mysterious happens to you and now strange things are occurring around you that you can’t control? What do you do? Hint: you do NOT keep it a secret from the people around you who (a) are geniuses, (b) are experienced in dealing with secret powers and so forth, © you love so you would be distraught if you accidentally caused an earthquake and killed them, and (d) they love you, so they can ensure that you don’t end up locked away like a lab experiment somehow. I don’t know why this gets my goat so much but it’s SUCH a ridiculous cliche, that what someone with a totally unknown disease/condition/whatever really needs is just to be around people they love. I mean, that’s important for psychological reasons, but that alone IS NOT GOING TO DO JACK SHIT. And maybe studying your powers will let the good guys (and there are still some good guys in the show’s universe) learn how to protect themselves from all the OTHER bad stuff that is going on. Don’t selfishly put your boo-hoo feelings ahead of the fate of EVERY HUMAN BEING ON THE PLANET. Sheesh. That’s the kind of crap that Joss Whedon is usually better than.

I assume by “reasons” you mean “guy she obviously liked getting horribly killed”.

I’ll have to rewatch, but I got the impression that Bobbi and Mac don’t think Coulson’s team is SHIELD, even if Coulson’s team thinks they are. So Bobbi & Mac are the real SHIELD, or something.
