Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D S03E01: Laws of Nature

Ain’t got time to bleed.

And while these things pop into my mind early in the morning: What was the glowing dot at the end of Coulson’s stump? Did they install an LED flashlight there? Or is it connections for a Deathloc replacement hand?

I assumed it was a way to show that the interface is to control an actual fully functional prosthetic hand. Though a forearm laser would come in handy.

My first thought was Jemma found some hurt-loam, and was running from Thomas Covenant.

I was more thinking of the Predator self-doctoring with mud or clay…

That was Predator 2 I think - when he mixed up the drywall with something from his medkit to seal up his stump.

An alien world probably is incompatible to any earth bacteria or pathogens, so smearing random alien mud is probably better than a bandage. Unless it’s cyanide-mud I suppose. Dammit, she should have stopped at Peroxide Lake before turning into Cyanide Gully!

O only saw the scene once, but I got the impression that she was being hunted, and that she was worried about the blood. It wasn’t a big cut , but she wanted to stop the bleeding or cover it up for fear of attracting something/someone. It wasn’t a medical thing, it was an, “Oh shit, I have to do something about this before the track me.” thing. If that was the case, smearing anything thick on it to stop/cover/slow the bleeding would help. It wouldn’t require any special knowledge.

Anyway, that’s the impression I got from that short scene, which I only saw once.

That was my take on it, too.

Mine as well.

Talk about your gritty reboots…

Late to respond, because I didn’t get a chance to watch it until today. But, I thought it was an excellent start to the season. I like that they have enough confidence in the stories now that they don’t feel the need to stuff every single character in each episode. I look forward to the return of Ward, and the Cavalry, and the Koenigs. But, I was more than satisfied by everyone we got to see. Can’t wait for next week!

This has already been responded to, but I wanted to talk about it a little bit more. I believe that Whedon was eager to get away from Marvel, and he was ready to complain about just about everything by the time Ultron was out in theaters. So, I’ll take his word on this stuff with a large grain of salt. Especially, with the news from Kevin Feige that they are going to attempt to reference TV with the MCU. I’d be fine with a quick 5 second cameo by someone in Coulson’s crew, or a quick mention of Hell’s Kitchen getting cleaned up by a masked martial artist. I’ve said multiple times that the sense of a shared universe among all the properties deepens the enjoyment. Especially when they are able to do it in subtle ways. Just a little bit extra for us diehards.

The five pounds and several months Skye Daisy gained took that waify thing and threw it out the window. It’s a good thing and she is maturing nicely.

Since I look the same as in 8th grade, except fatter, I forget that at her age a few months can really make a difference.

Actually… you won’t be able to do that.
Hulu does have each new episode the morning after it airs, but it only keeps 6 (I think) back episodes.
So, up until episode 6, you’ll be able to watch all episodes from this season but, once they add episode 7, episode 1 will no longer be available.
The next week you’ll only be able to watch episodes 3 through 8, episodes 1 and 2 will no longer be available.

The only thing I’m not absolutely sure of is just how many back episodes they keep. I think it’s 6 but it could be 5 or even as few as 4. You definitely won’t be able to watch the entire season on Hulu in the Spring.

(Finch? Really? You watch this show?)
In the meeting with the terrorists, Fitz gets smashed in the face. He spits out some blood then his lips are swollen and extra red (with the blood he had spit out) for the rest of the scene.
That wasn’t an overzealous usage of lipstick.

So far in this Thread no one has called out the movie crossover cameo appearance.
President Ellis makes a statement on T.V. He’s played by the same actor who played President Ellis in Iron Man 3.

If nothing else, I can’t see how the T.V. show won’t be referenced in the Inhumans movie. That movie is still four years away but they’re already really getting into it on the T.V. show.
It feels like the T.V. show will be used to fully flesh out the whole Inhumans idea to be built upon in the movie.

I don’t know how far into development they are but I’m sure they’re at least considering putting Chloe Bennett in the movie. Last season, last time Skye and Raina met, Raina specifically told Skye that she would come to be the leader of the Inhumans. Now, already in this season, it seems Daisy’s role in S.H.I.E.L.D. is to meet and greet so as to possibly recruit new Inhumans. So, it looks like they’re already exploring going that direction with it.

Marvel Studios must have a tremendous amount of faith in Chloe Bennett to even be considering having her anchor a major film.

I had to look on IMDB to figure out where I had seen (the actress portraying) Rosalind before.

I last saw Constance Zimmer on Boston Legal.

Brian

It’s a possibility. But it’s also possible Daisy will be the Moses figure for the Inhumans. She might become the leader of the Inhumans in the TV series and then fall and be replaced by some evil figure. And the future movie will be about fighting the Inhumans under this evil leader.

Or they find another group of Inhumans not on Earth. I can’t imagine they’d try an Inhumans movie without Black Bolt in charge.

I do watch it, but that doesn’t prevent my fingers from typing something other than my brain is thinking.

I missed that part.

Yeah, I was definitely one of the ones complaining about the first season. I really wanted to like it, but it just wasn’t working for me, and I think I gave up about 6 episodes in. Then I binge watched it on Netflix recently, and now I’m totally hooked. I think maybe somewhere around 8 to 10 episodes into the first season is where it really started clicking for me.

I’m not sure how much of that is that it just took that long for the characters and storyline to develop, and how much was the need to draw things out to sync up with the release of Winter Soldier.

Yeah, my guess is that Agents will set up Inhumans as a marginalized, often hunted group - just like the mutants in the comics - and then it turns out there’s an entire civilization of them on the moon, or something, and the Inhumans movie is about them showing up and radically changing the balance of power between on Earth. They could pull that off without having to give a Bennet a role much bigger than a cameo, if that.
