Huh. I’m going to try that line, thanks.
Hasn’t come up yet, as far as I can remember.
While waiting in the boarding line to get on a plane, without fail there will be the line jumpers. These are folks who sorta kinda drift around the edges but not really in line. Then, when the group is called to board they shimmy up to the front past all of the people in line. I would really like someone to do a scientific study on this to answer the question, “What exactly are they thinking?”
Occasionally, someone in the line will speak up. Usually a woman. Men don’t often speak up because they know innately that any dispute could escalate to a physical altercation. Also, you might end up seated right next to the offender (Awkward!) But in these cases the line jumper will ignore the protestations.
I actually had a guy step in front of me in line once and with that cheery breezy F-U amirite way said, “Hey, we’re all getting to the same place at the same time anyway!” To which I replied, “By that logic you wouldn’t mind being the last to board?” Needless to say, we did not become fast friends.
I know it is a trifling inconvenience, it really doesn’t interfere with my boarding and seating. But it just PUSHES MY BUTTONS! My mind goes to all sorts of dark places when it happens, wishing pain upon the offender, considering the rise of Trump and the influence on our greater culture - like I say, DARK PLACES!
