Depression and Hostility become history also. It will take dedades for this to become reality.
Kind of like saying why go back to college to get another degree, since it will take so long. The time will pass anyway, so why not enjoy the likely probability of limitless lifespans becoming within reach.
What is the benefit of believing in inevitable death in a few decades. No one can ever prove to anyone that they will die, so why keep buying into it?
Believing in ageless living does not mean careless disregard for the consequences of irresponsible behavior.
Believing in ageless living promotes responsible goals and cooperation in society. Greed, like resentments will be dismissed like ideas of burning people at the stake. History, not acceptable in the present.
A033,
Just a little suggestion. You’ve posted the same basic argument in 3 different Great Debate threads…the “Someday soon no one is going to die, and it’ll be good” arguement. Putting aside the merits of your argument, it might be a good idea for you to post refinements of the argument and responses to criticisms in one thread, instead of starting new ones. This will make your posts easier to follow.
We’re pushing the limits of naivete here. Reading these kinds of things confirms a longstanding suspicion of mine. We are a far too safe and insulated society.
Probably Grant, but he wasn’t conscious when he was placed there. No one can be conscious when dead, therefore impossible to prove to anyone that they will die or that they died. Fear of death is pointless.
Thanks for your suggestion. I’m new to this forum and appreciate you’re helping me learn the ropes.
Not really sure where I want to go with this thread any more. I was enthused with the idea of discussing immortalist philosophy but wonder what can be accomplished.
