I just got an email from Aglarond’s boss. He has been suffering from stomach problems and passed up our last gathering because he wasn’t feeling well.
He had to be taken to the emergency room on Friday. A CAT scan found a mass in his abdomen. Friday night he had, what sounded to me to be rather extensive surgery. He should be out of the hospital by Thursday and rehab at his parents for a while after that.
Anyone that wants more info, I’ll pass along the full email that I have.
Ag, get better soon, guy. We miss you. Let us know if there is anything we can do.
I just called the hospital and talked to his mom (maybe?). She said he was up for visitors but he’s having a hard time talking. He’s got a tube in his stomach (yuck!) and up through his mouth so it makes talking difficult. Surgery was on Friday and today was the first day they allowed him to get up and walk around.
Will give more information once I talk to him and his mom (??) later.
Okay just got home from the hospital. Sandra, Ag’s mom, said that he had surgery on Friday to remove a growth from his stomach. They don’t know what it was or what caused it because they’re waiting for the results of the lab work. Apparently Mike didn’t even know he was having surgery. It sounded like he had a doctor’s appointment and they immediately checked him into the hospital and took out the lump.
He can’t talk a whole lot because of the tube in his mouth. He was pretty groggy but he answered a few questions and even managed to get a little dig in about me (He told his Mom I talk too much.). I teased him about being across the street from a liquor store and you know he’s not feeling well when he doesn’t perk up at the mention of Shiner Bock.
While I was the nurse (a young attractive one) stepped into the room and announced that it was time for him to get up. I left to get his mom something to eat and when I returned he was sitting in a chair with his eyes closed. I visited with them a little longer and then left.
I’m less than a block from the hospital and drive by there twice a day. If anyone wants to send him anything or give him a message, just let me know. I told him I’d check up on him later in the week to see how he’s doing. His mom said they originally thought they’d let him out on Thursday but she thought they were going to keep him longer.
I highly recommend Finishing Touch Florist on Coit Road. I don’t have the telephone number handy but I can post it in the morning. I got roses for my birthday from that flower shop and they were GORGEOUS. They lasted a long time too.
There’s also Connor’s on Custer and Parker. There’s an In Bloom practically next door and there’s another flower shop a block from the hospital. I can’t remember the name but I can look it up because it’s on my rolodex too.
If you place the order at any of the places, I can pick 'em up and deliver them. It’s silly for any of you to pay delivery when I’m a block from the hospital.
Mike, all of my prayers and positive thoughts are coming your way for a speedy and complete recovery. You are a terrific man, and you deserve the best in life.
And thank you, JimB and Grace…::smooches and hugs:: for keeping us informed and updated.
Call me and tell me again what it was. I checked my email very quickly last night because the hub was standing over my shoulder so he could use the computer.
Grace - can you check your email? If not, email me with your number and post here that you did (cause it’s my home email but I can pick it up here if I know to)
