Ah. sweet mystery of life, how you have screwed me!

I’m not really bitter about this at all but I think it is ironic in the genuine sense of the word.

A guy I work with is a really enthusiastic guitarist, but weighed down by a family he sruggles to get himself any gear. I like the guy and love his enthusiasm so I have been making up crap to provide him with stuff - “I have this spare capo I don’t need, hang on to it 'til I need it,” or “I just can’t get the hang of playing slide, you want to try out this pure brass one?”

Now he tells me that due to an inheritance he is buying many $$$$$$$ worth of guitars. He takes delivery next week and has offered to let me hear them played.

I have a suspision that he is going to be pretty damn good but I will quietly begrudge the fact that he has far more money than me and I bought the capo on the 7th fret for Hotel California.

Sweet mystery of life…

Huh. Hopefully, at some point, your friend will be as generous with you as you have been with him. Meanwhile, never regret an act of kindness.
