Ahh, the unmatched joy of finally finishing a long procratinated project, stepping back to look and

… wondering why the hell did I think that was necessary?

Small house, small garage, need more storage space. There was a totally unused space over the workbench, that was just aching for a nice suspended wire shelf that would hold occasionally needed stuff. I bought the self and suspension rigging a while ago, but didn’t start on the project. You see there is a heavy old rusty, questionably wired, Florescent long bulb work light in the space, hanging from a 2x6 clearly stuck there for the purpose of hanging the light. I procrastinated unsure of what to do about it.

Today, while enjoying the weather I had inspiration of what to do with the light. Remove the plank, some U bolts, and wire clamps, and it would hang perfectly and securely from the shelf. A quick trip to Ace for 12 more bucks of hardware, an hour or so of drilling holes and securing brackets and the masterpiece is finished. My sturdy shelf with the work light hanging from it. The old heavy rusted work light. The old work light that I am mostly afraid to use because I’m not sure I would be quick enough tell when the smell of burning cob-webs turns to burning garage. The one that gives off anemic flickery nearly useless light. The one that I delayed the whole shelf project 8 months for. That light is securely installed over my workbench once again. Not some nice bright LED panel work light. Not even some clamp on LED spotlight. That old shitty work light is what is installed.

Stupid project tunnel vision.

I can identify with your tunnel vision. Lucky for me, I have a husband who can see the big picture and point out when I’m not thinking smart.

With luck, next time you have a project, you’ll remember this. Or if you’re like me, probably not…

The *really *hard part is getting **wolfman **to ask your husband during his projects. I bet they haven’t shared phone numbers & don’t live nearby.
