Today was great, tomorrow I will paddle 10km to Georgina Island and back and I just wanted to send a quick postcard to the SDMB. I’m sitting outside in the total darkness, having watched another beautiful sunset after putting the kids to bed. The sun beat the moon to the horizon, the stars have come out, and I’m relaxed and learning to appreciate rhythms too slow for human perception.
I think my garden is my favourite clock - at present, it is half-past the tiger lilies, and a little while before the black-eyed susans, which tells me it’s time to open a 2002 Argentine Malbec.
And descisions - Ellington, Brahms or shuffle on my mental iPod? Or the strange sound of an arrhythmic contrast of waves and wind? The latter matches the visual echoes of horizontal stripes of the sunset contrasted with the verticals of the tree trunks and masts, now only a memory and a promise for tomorrow.
I have unwound, and I wish the same to each and every one of you sometime this wonderful summer. All my best wishes, and I’ll write again the next time I have to check the weather and google maps…
Peace, M. le Ministre
