Ahhhh!! How can a college educated person be this stupid? (quick rant)

There’s a woman at work who’s buying a condo, but when I was talking to her about it, it became clear that she had no idea what was going on. Didn’t know an ARM from a fixed rate, whether or not she’d had an inspection done, or anything. We eventually figured out that her agent wasn’t even including her any more - her dad was making all the decisions for her. I dunno about you, but if I was about to sign my name to 120K worth of debt over 30 years, I would damn well want to know what was going on. This wouldn’t be a big deal, except that she has an MBA, and apparently got verry good grades. Wouldn’t real estate stuff be cake after that?

She also was mad that the dry cleaners were safety-pinning labels to her clothes. She couldn’t explain to me an alternate method for the dry cleaners to know which of the hundreds of garments were hers.

Frustrating.

It sounds as though you didn’t really need to do the booklet thing, anyway.

If you can’t figure out that 0.625 and .625 are the same thing I don’t think any amount of training is going to help.

On the other hand, I’ve never gotten anywhere near any kind of peppers without taking a whiz or at least readjusting myself soon after, so I’m not really one to talk.

To be fair, it’s not necessarily a matter of figuring out - but I’d expect someone to have met the concept of numbers before they’re twenty. And maybe to be able to say “No we don’t have any of that. However, there’s another with almost the same numbers. Did you mean that one?”

Probably true. But we have much better quality control in the hiring process for permanent employees. Temps, we kind of get what we get … they were only there for three weeks, it’s sometimes hard to see who can’t handle it in that little time. Although we certainly did ditch a few before the contract was up …
