In other words, if farmers realize that people are buying more of certain foods, they’ll grow more of those foods, and if farmers find that they’re growing an excess of certain foods, they’ll advertise to try to get people to buy more of those foods.

This is not at all new-- It’s probably been going on for as long as farming has. All that’s changed is that now they’re using computers to help make those decisions, and what of that? Everyone is using computers to help with everything, nowadays.
