AI image generation is getting crazy good

I find your ideas intriguing and wish to subscribe to your newsletter. Or get the contact info for your pusher; I’m not sure which.

Create an image of Jophel’s newsletter based in an alternate history 1980s. Jophel looks like this image

You just lucky that Art Instruction Schools went out of business or you’d be so sued for Tippy the Turtle infringement!

I’m not sure if “Jophel” was an error in prompting or if your image gen really hates I’s

I guess there are at least two very different modes for image generation. one is sort of idealistic artistic output where a user tries to achieve a photographic output that looks like a drawing or a photograph

And then there’s this

And I guess this thread knows which one it’s mostly about

LOLOLOL.

ChatGPT actually came up with a version that was more cartoonish, which was what I wanted, but when I tried to get it to change “breast” to “boob” it balked. Never mind it had already generated a different one with that word in it.

I don’t know if this link will work for anyone other than myself but here’s the image:
Build-a-… image

Gemini will do lots of things that ChatGPT won’t, but it balks at trying to make a boob-footed Bluey.

Create an image of the animated dog Bluey that has breasts instead of feet

And here’s an interaction I just had with Copilot on the subject

In the future, all restaurants are Taco Bell.

I told it to create an image of the presidents in the style of MAD magazine. The AI invented all the text.

I used that as my exact prompt to ChatGPT 5.5 and got this:

I was impressed, only one major glitch! Can you spot it?

Missing Sleepy Joe

Okay, two major glitches.

Also missing John Tyler.

Yeah, who’s the guy with no nameplate shoehorned in between FDR and Truman? Kinda looks like a caricature of Gene Hackman.

As for the lack of Biden, the AI could be working on data that predates the 2020 election, maybe?

ETA: No Hoover, either. Maybe that explains the person between FDR and Truman with no nameplate-- was supposed to be Hoover, but the AI got the order wrong, left off the nameplate, and created a person who doesn’t look like Hoover at all.

ChatGPT’s knowledge cutoff is supposed to be 2024 or 2025. The image generator part of it relies on separate training. I did note it was missing Biden but I gave it a pass on that, maybe I shouldn’t have. I totally missed noting the other absences. I was never required to learn all the presidents as a rote list in school.
The major glitch count in that continues to rise. A minor glitch I noticed was how it didn’t do well on adding distinguishing initials for shared last names.

I did the same, and I got this:

Imgur

It also left out Biden, but at least it had Tyler and Hoover, and didn’t have the unknown guy between FDR and HST.

It really compacted the last 15 images into one row.

I think that IS Biden.

I actually thought it did this impressively well. For most shared last names, it picked the more famous one as the unmarked “default.”

Same prompt in Gemini.

Create an image of the presidents in the style of Henry Darger.
