Like she did with Lost in Space, Aimee Mann is streaming tracks from her new album, The Forgotten Arm, on her website. Looks like three per week until the new album releases (May 2 if I recall).
So get over there and check 'em out! This week’s tracks are very good, especially “That’s How I Knew This Story Would Break My Heart.”
And if you, like me, just have to have a song to carry around with you as well, “Going Through the Motions” is available on iTunes for a buck. It’s not quite as good as the live version from the St. Anne’s CD/DVD, but it’s still new Aimee.
I shall perservere though and mention that Aimee Mann is featured this week in iTunes “Originals” series, which includes rerecordings of several of her more popular songs and lots of interview audio. Awesome stuff, especially my recent favorite “That’s How I Knew This Story Would Break My Heart.”
Make it a threesome. I really got into her music after watching “Magnolia,” even though I knew of her since her work with 'Til Tuesday. She’s also a “local girl,” having spent some time in the Richmond area.
Good to hear. Coincidentally, as I was pulling up this post Aimee’s cover of “One (is the lonliest number)” from the Magnolia soundtrack came up on my iPod.
Make that at least three of us. I’m looking forward to the new disc, and XPN in Philly has already been playing some of the new tracks. Also, just got tickets for the Appel Farm Music Festival in June, where Aimee is one of the headliners.
I hope it’s better than Lost in Space - sorry to say I hated that record, not one hook that stayed with me, and I didn’t care for the production values much.
I want the old Aimee back.
PS I didn’t like the Magnolia tunes either. Sorry.
